Postojna Cave

Lipica Stud Farm

The tourist centre »Postojna Cave« with its parking for campers, restaurant and gift shops is open all the year round!Postojna Cave is the largest cave in the classical karst and also the most visited

tourist cave in Europe. You are taken around the cave in a tourist train and you

can admire the extensiveness and immensity of the subterranean world under

electric lightening.

The most beautiful galleries were discovered in 1818 by natives and a year after

they were arranged for tourist visits. Since then, this wonder of nature has been

visited by more than 32 millions of visitors. This subterranean cave system is also

the home of the worldwide known human fish, which can be viewed in the Vivar-

ium next to the cave entrance.

A mighty, 700 years old Predjama Castle, the secret home of the bold, headstrong

and rebellious knight Erazem Predjamski, lays only 10 km away from the Postojna

Cave, in a 123 meters high rock wall. For more information visit our web site or

ask for a brochure at the camp’s reception.

You are kindly invited to visit the number one tourist sight in Slovenia.

The Lipica Stud Farm is one of the oldest stud farms and has nurtured the tradition

of breeding and selecting horses for 428 years. It is the home of the Lipizzaner

horse, one of the most cultivated breeds of horses in the world. The Lipizzaner

horse got its name from Lipica and through the centuries this breed expanded

all over the world. In the Lipica Stud Farm there are about 370 Lipizzaner horses.

Visitors can take guided tours given in five languages. Every Tuesday, Friday and

Sunday from April 1 to October 31 you can visit performances of classical riding

school. Visits of the classical riding school trainings are available each day. The Stud

Farm also organizes three to seven day riding courses. Lipica also offers accommo-

dations in hotels Maestoso and Klub, a complete catering and a golf course open

all year round. With its geographic position, Lipica is an ideal point of departure for

visiting the Karst and broader region, the Postojna Cave, the Predjama Castle, the

Škocjan Caves Park, Trieste, the Miramare Castle, Venice and Ljubljana. Situated

only 30 minutes from the Postojna Cave and 50 minutes from Ljubljana, Lipica is

an ideal destination for one-day trips or for longer stays in the Karst. You are kindly

invited to Lipica, where tradition, nature and history truly begin to live.
