Then picture yourself in a striking, spacious, luxurious dome. This is not camping as you’ve ever known it. Hanging beds for the children, Fatboy bean-bags for all, king-size beds and high-quality mattresses, bedlinen provided, covered, substantial al fresco dining from a state-of-the-art ‘plancha’ gas cooker, room for everyone: this is camping with space, solidity, comfort and style.

The Idea The great outdoors, the beautiful indoors

We’ve put a lot of hard work, serious thought and many miles into selecting just the right sites for these fantastic domes. They’re striking enough to make an impact anywhere, but not anywhere will do. We think we know what makes for a unique, and uniquely relaxing, camping experience, and you’ve just found it.

The sites

The sites where you’ll find us are four or five star: their facilities are excellent and their customers happy. These sites are independently run, and because their owners understand what Glisten has to offer, they’ve given us access to beautiful, great pitches on their sites, which allow you to fully enjoy the space our domes offer while giving you easy access to the sites’ many amenities and services.

Glisten is run by a family with young children. We fell in love with the south west of France and know exactly what makes a campsite memorable. You can choose your location knowing that it’s been tried, tested and re-tested by people who value a high-quality site no less than you.

The accommodation

These domes are as remarkable to be inside as they are to glimpse from a distance.

Their striking shape makes them structurally rugged and weather-resistant (think of the wind trying to get hold of one; compared with traditional tents there are just no angles or corners to grab on to). That same domed, high-ceilinged shape makes them restful and spacious to be in too. They’re waterproof, UV-protected and fire retardant, but their shape helps air to circulate inside, and they have flaps which roll up to allow for more ventilation when needed.

In spite of their solidity, putting up and taking down domes takes no special equipment or electricity, has minimal impact on the local environment, and their skins and frames are recyclable, making them a more sustainable option to most tents.

But of course, geodesic domes are about more than the sum of their parts: they might meet all the above criteria, and be dependable and versatile. But until you see one for the first time, between the trees or across a clearing, you won’t appreciate quite how amazing they are.
