Campbell County School District Seniors:

Campbell County School District is honored to coordinate the largest local scholarship program in the

state, confirming Campbell County’s support of our youth. CCSD Seniors are fortunate to be the

recipients each year of over $300,000 in scholarship money donated by local businesses, clubs,

organizations, and families.

The high school counseling offices act as facilitators between CCSD students and the scholarship donors.

Please keep in mind that recipients are selected by the scholarship donors or their committees, not by the

counseling office staff. Due to the number of students applying we cannot guarantee that every student

will receive a scholarship; however, the more you apply for, the greater your chances will be.

Scholarships are intended to assist with your college tuition and expenses. You may also need to pursue

other types of financial aid available by completing the FAFSA and other applications required by the

college you will attend.

Please carefully read the Application Instructions pages before you begin. These two pages outline

exactly how to complete your packets. Incomplete application packets will not be considered. If you

have any questions, please stop by the counseling office in your school.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. Review all the scholarships and select the ones you are eligible to apply for. You are encouraged to stay within

a specific future field of study (ex: education, business, engineering, medical, etc.). Pay close attention to the eligible schools section, some scholarships are only available to students attending a certain high school.

THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION MUST BE INCLUDED WITH EVERY SCHOLARSHIP YOU APPLY FOR:

THE GENERAL APPLICATION, SPECIAL APPLICATIONS & SCHOLARSHIP LOG

CAN BE ALL DOWNLOADED ON YOUR SCHOOL’S WEBSITE

2. Select the appropriate application form and complete it with all of the required information. Please ask someone to proofread your application for grammar, spelling, etc., as it is a negative reflection on you when applications are submitted incomplete or with errors.

The General Application is available online on your school’s website. Please fill out the form on a computer and print one for each scholarship you are applying for that requires the General Application. Be sure to change the Scholarship Name and Scholarship Number on the General Application for each scholarship you are applying for. All other information should be the same on each application. Some scholarships require a SPECIAL application form. The type of application to submit is listed under application type. YOU WILL NEED TO GET THAT APPLICATION FROM YOUR SCHOOL’S WEBSITE, YOUR COUNSELING OFFICE OR AT THE WEBSITE PROVIDED. Some require you send a Special & General Application packet, only do this if it is required! Pay close attention to the application type!

3. Write and include a self-description with each application. In your own words, describe personal

characteristics and accomplishments that would help a committee get to know you as a person. This essay can be written in first person. Include personal and academic goals, interests and hobbies, contributions to the school and community, and any significant events and experiences that have influenced your life. Be sure to include what field of study you are going into. This statement should not be more than two pages long and should be double-spaced. Each application must include a copy of your self-description (unless it is an online special application).

4. Each packet should also include three (3) letters of recommendation. These can be from teachers, employers, coaches or mentors. Letters should not be written by family members.

5. Each packet should also include a copy of your transcript. MUST include 7 high school semesters. You can pick

up a copy of your transcript from your Counseling Office. It is your responsibility to make copies.

6. Some packets may also include: additional essays, financial information, art portfolios, videos, etc. specifically requested by scholarship donors. Pay close attention to these details listed under ‘requirements’ for each scholarship.

EACH APPLICATION PACKET MUST BE STAPLED IN THE FOLLOWING ORDER:

1. General Application (available on your school website) and/or Special Application (available on your school website or at specific websites)

2. Self-Description (1-2 pages) 3. 3 Letters of Recommendation 4. Transcript 5. Additional essays, financial information, portfolios, videos, etc. specifically requested by scholarship

donors 7. Staple application packets together. Do not paper clip or put applications in binders, folders, or envelopes.

8. The Scholarship Log is also available on your school’s website. Please fill out the log after you have completed

all applications. The Scholarship Log is a list of all scholarships you are applying for in numerical order. You will only need to turn in one Scholarship Log with all your application packets.

9. Completed application packets must be submitted to your Counseling Office by THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2020

at 4:00 pm.

ADDITIONAL NOTES: 1. Please do not ask the Counseling Office or any other office in the school to make copies for you and do NOT use

the printers in the school library. Copies can be made at Office Depot, Sir Speedy, The UPS Store, or the Campbell County Public Library.

2. Completed application packets must be submitted to your Counseling Office by THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2020

at 4:00 pm, with the exception of a few scholarships that have their own deadline. Some of the Special Application scholarships also require that you turn them in directly to the company or organization offering the scholarship, so pay close attention to special dates and other instructions.

ACCEPTED. ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS!!

3. If you are chosen to receive a scholarship, you will be mailed an invitation prior to Scholarship Night. IF YOU

DO NOT RECEIVE AN INVITATION, YOU ARE NOT THE RECIPIENT OF A SCHOLARSHIP! Please stop by the Counseling Office if you are questioning whether or not you are invited. There will be a list posted.

4. If you are a scholarship recipient, you will be given instructions on how to accept it with your certificate on

Scholarship Night. It is very important that you follow these instructions to ensure you receive your scholarship money.

5. In nearly all cases, the scholarship must be used during the immediate fall semester after graduation.

Include a one-page, two-part essay to include: Part 1 – Describe your parent/guardian in detail and tell about their special qualities. Part 2 – Tell how you were affected by their struggle, both personally and academically.

SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT: $250 # AVAILABLE: 1 APPLICATION TYPE: General DEADLINE: 2/20/2020 WEBSITE: None ELIGIBLE SCHOOLS: CCHS/TBHS REQUIREMENTS: This is for that special player, coach, or student assistant for any type of team who consistently demonstrates doing their very best and truly loves the sport with which they are involved. Must show good sportsmanship with all people, including handicap and special needs. Include a letter from the applicant, coach, or parent stating how much they enjoy playing the sport and that it is not all about winning, but playing the game.

Applicant must have applied and been accepted by an accredited college or university. Attach a brief essay about yourself and why you are applying for this scholarship, including interests, activities and organizations you are active in and any offices held. This is a statewide scholarship.

14. Buffalo Ridge Alumni Scholarship

Application must be downloaded @ www.ccgov.net/262/4-H-Forms-Registrations or on the school website. Application and Record Book must be submitted to the Campbell County Extension Office, 412 S. Gillette Ave., Gillette, WY 82716. Half of the scholarship will be awarded in the fall and half in the spring. Must submit fall transcript and spring schedule in order to receive the second half.

Must be a Campbell County resident and be a Cattlewomen member, or have a mother or grandmother that is a member. Include a one-page essay on how your education will be used in agriculture and promoting beef.

20. Campbell County Commissioners

SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT: $1,000 # AVAILABLE: 3 APPLICATION TYPE: General DEADLINE: 2/20/2020 WEBSITE: None ELIGIBLE SCHOOLS: All REQUIREMENTS: Financial need, extra-curricular activities, GPA, and ACT scores will be considered. Must attend a Wyoming college or university as a full time student.

21. Campbell County Community Trust

Honor

SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT: $750 # AVAILABLE: 1 APPLICATION TYPE: General DEADLINE: 2/20/2020 WEBSITE: None ELIGIBLE SCHOOLS: All REQUIREMENTS: Class Rank/GPA (must be top 20% of class); activities, and future goals will be considered. $750 1st year. Can be renewed for up to 3 additional years at $500 per year. Must submit college transcript to donor each year for this to be considered.

SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT: $500 # AVAILABLE: 2 APPLICATION TYPE: General DEADLINE: 2/20/2020 WEBSITE: None ELIGIBLE SCHOOLS: All REQUIREMENTS: Must pursue a career in education or teaching. Write a one-page essay on “What have you done in the past and what do you plan to do in the future to prepare for a career in the field of education?” Rating form will be completed by scholarship committee. Students of CCEA members will be given first consideration.
