1. Campers love getting mail from home. “Email My Camper” is always the quickest way to send your camper a note.

2. DON’T send your child’s nicest clothes to Camp Ozark. Everyday, comfortable t-shirts, shorts, and tennis shoes work just fine.

3. On Opening Day, the ideal time for arrival is 1 hour and 15 minutes before the gates open.

4. Take advantage of the online pre-order system and the Incomparable Care Packages from the Camp Ozark Store.

5. Clearly mark your child’s name on all clothing and personal items. Many of our families love to use clothing labels from irononmdlabels.com.

2012 Activity ProgramsThe Incomparable Camp Ozark Program allows campers to participate in a wide variety of activities while still receiving specialized instruction in areas in which they are most interested. Activity Programs include “classes” during our weekday Morning Activities and our weekend venture Experiences, as well as a “structured free time” during Mish Mash every afternoon.

We believe that for kids to have a meaningful experience, they must have fUn!

Campers have the opportunity to choose activities they enjoy and spend portions of each day participating in those activities.

Morning ACTIvITIESMorning Activities are primarily designed for campers to learn or improve upon a skill from one day to the next. Camp Ozark creates a personalized Morning Activity schedule for each camper. These personalized schedules are created using your camper’s preferred activities, which are selected online prior to their arrival at Camp Ozark. Each scheduled Morning Activity generally meets once daily, Monday through Thursday, with a total of three activity periods each day.

Additionally, each camper goes to the lake with their cabin once during their session. Our Lake Program features experienced, qualified instructors, competition ski boats, Wakeboarding, Water Skiing, Tubing, Sailing, and the famous Camp Ozark Water Weenie. Additional lake time is available for all campers on an optional basis.

Mish MASh All areas of camp are staffed and open recreationally every afternoon during our camp-wide free time known as Mish Mash. Campers are able to participate in as many activities as they’d like. Qualified staff is assigned to supervise each activity, while those not assigned are free to take kids to different activities of the camper’s choosing. Organized Tournaments and Clinics are advertised and offered each Mish Mash allowing campers to benefit from instruction in a specific area, as well as participate alone or with a group in structured play. Mish Mash is often referred to as the camper’s favorite time of day because all activities at Camp Ozark are open, with campers having the opportunity to do “whatever they want” at this time. Mish Mash lasts about 2 hours everyday.

Venture ExPErIENCES (TWO & ThrEE WEEk SESSIONS ONLy) These special activities are only offered during the middle weekend of two and three week sessions. Campers select these ventures based on their interests and have an opportunity to complete each venture during a one or two hour period. Campers have the opportunity to participate in up to 4 venture Experiences throughout the day.

Other Specialty Activities offer campers age-specific options where they participate in Morning Activities with campers from their cabins or neighboring cabins, examples include Breakaway or Debut.

INSTRUCTOR SpeCIAlISTSMany of our Morning Activities offer primary instruction from an Instructor Specialist. Instructor Specialists serve to specifically enhance the Morning Activity experience due to their knowledge and ability in a particular skill area. Instructor Specialists are the primary coaches or instructors of an area. Instructor Specialists direct most of our team and individual sports classes as well as our performing arts classes. They also staff areas such as Mountain Biking, Skateboarding, Woodworking and more.

the camp ozark values Based Camping Initiative was born out of

the following five core values:

Self-eSteemSelf-confidence

integrityteamworkfriendShip

F.I.T. (First Is Third) is the overriding theme of Camp Ozark’s spiritual emphasis. Our belief is that in order to “win” in our lives, we must place god first, others second and ourselves third. By placing ourselves third, by being “F.I.T.”, we actually come in first in the “game of life.”

Counselors and staff lead by personal example, actions speak louder than words. Love for god through Christ, love for each other, respect, integrity, friendliness and cheerfulness...these are the qualities of Christian living we hope to convey to each camper as we live, play and work with one another.

F...ITp. 35

first Is Third

WhY CAMP OzArk?

VALUE – That is our simple, direct, one word response to this all important question. Through the combination of our incredible setting, facilities, program offerings, customer service and people, you will never find a better value in a summer camp experience. But the value of Camp Ozark cannot be measured only by these tangibles because the real value of Camp Ozark is in our values.

Camp Ozark is fully committed to aiding families in the nurturing and development of children and adolescents. In addition to adherence to our mission and philosophy, this is achieved through our positive, energetic emphasis on a relationship with god through Christ carried out through our Spiritual Emphasis Program and our unique values Based Camping Initiative.

Health and first aidThe two health Centers are staffed by a camp physician and up to 8 registered nurses. Additional physicians and a full-service medical clinic are located in Mount Ida, 6 miles away. The program begins at 10:00 am for all two-week sessions and for sessions B/D/F/g/I. For sessions A/C/E/h/J, the ceremony begins at 11:00 am. CabinsCabins at Camp Ozark are arranged by age group and gender and are strategically located throughout Camp Ozark. The Summit is an area set apart for our older campers and is serviced by a separate dining facility and health Center. The typical cabin arrangement is 10 campers with 2 counselors. The cabins are rustic (screen doors, screen windows, ceiling fans), and campers sleep in bunk beds. Each sleeping area has a shelf and access to an electrical outlet (for fans or clocks). Most campers use bath houses, although some cabins do have there own facilities.

Cabin AssignmentsCampers are assigned to cabins according to age, development and school grade. Campers may request to be placed in the same cabin with up to two other campers. All such requests must be submitted in writing and must be made by both campers, via My Ozark or email to [email protected] Additionally, requested cabin mates must be no more than 12 months apart in age, and no more than four campers from the same school or social group will be placed in the same cabin. Every effort is made to place campers according to their cabin preference, but final placement is at the sole discretion of the Camp Director.

Camp Moms have a network in place that enables them to meet camper’s needs, address issues such as homesickness, and to give 1st time camper status reports to camp families a few days into their camper’s session.
