LA JOLLA CAMPS AT TORREY PINES ELEMENTARY

PACIFIC BEACH CAMPS AT PB MIDDLE SCHOOL STANDLEY REC CENTER

Tour de Camp

Visit us online for detailed camp information: www.lajolla.ymca.org | www.pb.ymca.org

Page 3: CAMP MOVES ME

Dear Families, We are excited for summer andcan’t wait to share our new campstructure, including all new activitystations, camp squads, andprogramming designed to maximize each camper’s experience of fun, learning and bonding! Once again, we will be offering programming at our three unique camp sites: Torrey Pines Elementary School, Pacifi c Beach Middle School and Standley Recreation Center.

Our focus this summer is clear: to create an environment where kids will develop friendships with peers and mentors, achieve accomplishments through trying new things, and create a deeper sense of belonging with our new “squads.” Campers will develop and strengthen skills relevant to life beyond the camp season.

The 2015 summer camp offerings are located on the inside cover of this brochure. For detailed campdescriptions and further information, pick up a camp catalog available at the Y or online at lajolla.ymca.org, and pb.ymca.org.

We hope that you are as excited as we are for another amazing summer and we look forward to seeing you at camp!

Sincerely,Lindsey and Reina

Make New FriendsCampers will develop new friendships and strengthen existing relationships as we introduce “Squads.” Campers will be placed in a squad of up to 10 campers of similar ages with one staff member. Our staff serve as role models to guide the kids through their day of fun camp activities. Squads will rotate through activities, laugh, bond, create their own community within the larger camp experience and help foster friendships amongst the campers.

Try New ThingsEach day at camp is fi lled with new and exciting activities and opportunities to learn, grow and have fun. Throughout the camp week, campers are introduced to varied physical activities, STEM enrichment, arts & crafts, and team building exercises designed to encourage learning and growth. Campers will enjoy a sense of accomplishment as they climb higher on the rock wall, laugh a little louder during camp skits, and share stories of their successes each afternoon on the car ride home.

Be Part of Something MoreSummer camp at our three locations provides the opportunity for your camper to be a part of something more. Camp is a place to make unexpected friends, get to know people who share common interests, and know that your voice will be heard. Whether your camper spends one week or the entire summer at one of our three unique locations, you can trust that your camper is engaged in new activities in an enriching and fun environment where everyone is welcome.

Who supervises my child?Safety is our number one priority. Our camp staff is made up of dedicated and experienced adults who have received a minimum of 20 hours of training and are all CPR and fi rst-aid certifi ed. We have an extensive interview process including references, background checks, and drug screening to ensure the best possible role models for your children.

What do I need to send with my camper each day? We recommendapplying sunscreen before you get to camp and our camp staff will supply sunscreen to campersregularly throughout the day.

During our afternoon extended care, we have partnered with Whole Foods to provide a healthy snack for your kids after a long day of fun and camp!
