Who can attend Camp Carousel? Rising 1st - 12th graders & adults who are grieving the death of a loved one.

Where does Camp Carousel take place? All Camp Carousel groups meet on the Trellis Supportive Care campus, located at 101 Hospice Lane in Winston-Salem, NC. Additional details will be included in an information packet mailed to campers after registration is received.

What happens at Camp Carousel? We believe that grief affects the whole person – body, mind and spirit. We build in support, expression, and coping skills through small-group sharing, the expertise of creative arts therapists, and animal-assisted and equine therapy experiences. We know that fun, meaningful activities - as well as the chance to tell our stories - fosters connection and deepens the healing process. Each camp experience is thoughtfully matched to the ages and needs of campers. Group sessions are augmented by take-home materials for additional support.

Who leads Camp Carousel groups? Specially-trained volunteers lead Camp Carousel small groups. Many of our volunteers are counselors themselves, or have experience caring for hospice patients and families. This team of volunteers is led and supported by Trellis Supportive Care's grief counseling and volunteer services staff.

Does my family need to have a hospice connection?

No! Our grief counselors provide care to people throughout our community. You may participate in Camp Carousel if you are grieving a death-related loss. We do not place limits around the cause of death, or how much time has passed since the loss occurred.
