About the Designer
Upon entering the world of design, I was actually scared for myself but as time passed I learned and develop different skills necessary for this field. I practically learned the different software needed. I was opened to different styles, techniques and aesthetics in design. With this newly acquired knowledge in design, little by little I discover what my style is, and what skills I have.
One of the things I enjoyed learning, and am practicing my skills in is publication design. I love laying out. Learning about grids and typography were one of my favorite lessons. I this field, I developed a clean style, where
I only put stuff, which are necessary. I am a straightforward person, and that is usually reflected in my works. I try to keep my layouts as clean as possible. However, I would like to experiment more on grids, since I usually have the tendency of confining myself within the grids.
I also began to develop my skills in branding and illustration. My style is usually to keep things simple and clean. However, as much as possible, I would like to be flexible and try to not have a definite style when it comes to these. I try to learn new techniques and styles. It’s not that I want to do everything; It’s just that I am eager to
learn, and expand my knowledge in branding and illustration.
I might say that I still have a long way to go before I call myself knowledgeable in design, but design isn’t static, and you must continue to learn and evolve yourself. I must say that this is my strength as a designer; I try to continue to learn new things and put my best into it. Stopping just isn’t an option for me.

The defeat to their Green counterparts was the start of a revelation of problems that snowballed as one loss came after another: a 3-0 defeat against UST, 4-0 beating against FEU, then in their last game, a painful 1-0 defeat to UE.

Lady BootersAs the nightmare first
round storm came to an end, the skies never quite cleared for the Ateneo Lady Booters.
The rain fell harder and the winds blew stronger as the second round tore at the sails of their now sinking ship. If their 0-1-3 (win-loss-draw) first round performance was any indication of the internal problems the team was having, their second round display painted a clearer picture.
They opened the second round on February 7 with a 1-0 defeat to DLSU. Coach

The Lasallites scored in the 20th minute, and even lost their goalkeeper to a red
card midway through the second half, but Ateneo still failed to convert any of their attempts. The rotation saw more changes from this game on as seniors Railla Puno and Kylie Misa saw more action.
But what followed after the loss to DLSU was a 12-point swing that hit new lows in recent Ateneo football history.
On February 14, the Lady Booters welcomed the UST Tigresses as their Valentine’s
Day dates and accepted half a dozen goals. The starting lineup saw the return of Erika Casas, as well as Puno and Misa at defense. However,

Developing Communication Skills for Teachers
OUR VISION & MISSION
Designing Tasks for Critical Reading and Purposeful Writing in the Disciplines
Teaching for Understanding in the English Language Classroom
One primary task of teachers of English is to act as role
models of language use. This seminar aims to enhance
teachers’ proficiency and competencies in English by
helping them sharpen their understanding of effective
communication and its application to classroom teaching.
It focuses on the enhancement of both accuracy and
fluency in communication. Seminars are designed to
include a workshop component to enable participants to
practice and receive feedback on their work.
ACELT is an outreach program of the Ateneo de Manila University's Department of English. Founded in 1981, by Fr. Joseph Gaidon and prof Edna Manlapaz, it seeks to form professionally competent, socially concerned teachers. Teacher trainers and managers, multipliers for the process of institutional and social change.
Its programs induce teacher and trainer development management development, research and publication. program and materials development, Advocay, Networking & communications
Every language teacher needs to demonstrate the skills
and competencies he or she is teaching. I explores
the reading-writing connection in the teaching of
communication skills to second language learners. It
begins with a look into the nature and purpose of reading
and writing in the academic disciplines. Participants
will then learn different strategies that aid reading
comprehension and reinforce effective writing practices
– including the place of grammar learning and teaching.
Following the learning-by-doing framework, participants
are expected to demonstrate their understanding through
practical and sensible lessons.
This seminar provides basic principles for effective
teaching practice that facilitates real learning. Based
on actual classroom research, this seminar provides
an integrative framework for lesson planning that is
communicative, learning-oriented, and task-based.
The hands-on approach helps participants understand
the theoretical underpinnings of classroom procedures
and management in order to maximize student
understanding. Each topic has a workshop component
to allow participants to receive feedback on their own
teaching practices.
The seminar modules include:
• Effective Presentation Skills:
Using Adapting Authentic
Materials, Explaining a
Concept and Linking Concepts
• Planning Discussion Skills:
