Thanks From Abb
It’s hard to believe that fall is here and football season is halfway over. In this month’s newsletter, I’d like to say a big thank you to all of our social workers. On a daily basis, they deal with our most needy patients at very low points in their lives and do so with compassion and genuine concern. They provide unbelievable options with very limited resources and are really the last line of defense for some of our patients before death, bankruptcy, or some other permanent life changing event. I join all of our hospice and home health branch managers in recognizing this invaluable piece of our company’s care continuum and salute them for a job very well done. Happy Halloween!

Columbia Invites Area Pastors
Jackson
On September 18th, the Columbia Hospice invited area pastors to a luncheon and information meeting. During the session, each member of the staff gave a brief review of their objectives and DON Alan Reid presented an overview outlining the objectives of the Hospice philosophy and presented ways the agency is serving the community. Comments made following the meeting were: “I didn’t know that Hospice did that” or “thanks for the information. Now I know how to answer questions regarding end-of-life issues.” Future plans include meetings in various locations in our ministry area and will target other community leader groups.
Camellia is fundraising again! Nikki Sandifer, PT Scheduler at the Jackson Office, is currently undergoing chemo therapy and radiation. On Saturday, October 4th, employees from the Jackson Office held a yard sale to raise funds for Nikki. A Roadie 20 Yeti cooler was raffled off and Sandra Herring from Infusion+ and the Natchez office won it. Makinlee Harden, daughter of Jackson Home Health Nurse, Michael Harden, was on hand to draw the winning ticket. (See Photo) Benenfit Tee Shirts are still available for purchase at a cost of $12.00 and can be purchased by calling Rochelle Smith at 601-939-6428.
