SCHOOL EVENTS
ENVIROFEST 2019
Envirofest 2019 was organized on 5thJuly, 2019 as part of Vanomahotsav week which was
observed in India from 1st July to 7th July. The event aimed at creating awareness on forest
conservation, planting trees, saving the Earth and all other factors concerning the environment.
The programme included plantation drive in the school, poem recitation, group song and
installation of Aerocomposter. Students participated enthusiastically in the plantation drive. The
working principle of the Aerocomposter was also demonstrated by representatives from IPCA.

DIOS- GROUND WATER CONSERVATION WEEK - 2019
DIOS-Ground Water Conservation Week 2019 was observed from 16th July to 22nd July 2019.The
aim of the week was to generate awareness on depleting ground water level, harvesting of
rainwater and water conservation. A host of activities were conducted which included poster
making, poem recitation on ‘Importance of Water’ and a talk on Water Conservation in the
morning assembly. Also, students from classes VI to IX were shown various documentaries on
water conservation, rainwater harvesting, prevention of water pollution etc.

Pledge to Save Water
INTERACT CLUB MEMBERS VISIT A HOSPITAL
On 26thJuly, 2019 the members of Interact Club, Cambridge School, Noida, paid a visit to the
Government District Combined Hospital, Gautam Buddhanagar along with the teacher in charge,
Ms. Roomki Mitra. The objective of the visit was to sensitise students emotionally and socially with
this aspect of one’s life thereby creating awareness for a healthier environment.
The Interactors met children suffering from different ailments and gifted them juice packs and
handmade Get Well Soon cards. This visit made the students realise the value of good health and
empathise with people suffering serious ailments.

INTRA MUN 2019
After an intensive period of training sessions and preparation, the CSN Intra-Model United Nations
2019 was simulated for students of Classes VIII and IX in Cambridge School, Noida on 12th July,
2019. They participated enthusiastically as both delegates and members of the International
Press. The agenda for the simulation was “Implications of Climate Change on Human Rights”.
Despite time constraints for the simulation, the participants rose to the occasion and put up an
interesting and engaging debate and made several valid points while representing their countries’
stances on the agenda.
The Secretariat’s objective of providing a firsthand experience of an MUN to the first-timers was
therefore very successful and one looks forward to having their dynamic participation in future
conferences as well.

FIRE DRILL
A Fire Drill in collaboration with the Fire Department, Noida was conducted on 26th July, 2019 in
Cambridge School, Noida campus. The students, teachers and other staff members participated
and evacuated the building within less than 3 minutes.
The Fire Officials demonstrated various procedures to control fire disaster. They demonstrated
how to use fire extinguisher, hosepipe for fighting fire. They also shared the phone numbers of
different fire stations to get in contact with, in case of fire disaster. It was a very successful activity.

WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS FOR STUDENTS
THEATRE PRESENTATION: THE VIRUS
40 students from Class VII, Cambridge School, Noida participated in a theatre presentation on the
topic The Virus on 17thJuly, 2019.The concept of Virus, its types and the use of Antivirus using
various mediums including music, dance, drama and the animated movie were explained through
the theatre presentation. Members of ERC, Vice Principal, parents, students and teachers from
sister schools and students of Class VII attended the programme.

CAPACITY BUILDING FOR TEACHERS
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY WORKSHOP One day training programme was conducted by CBSE for teachers on Information Technology on
18thJuly, 2019 at Modern Public School, Shalimar Bagh. Ms. Jyoti Joshi attended the programme.

The objective of the programme was to make the teachers aware about the changes in curriculum
and the aim of introducing vocational education to the students.
PRINCIPAL'S NATIONAL SUMMIT ON DISCIPLINE- NEW CHALLENGES The Institute of Counsellor Training Research and Consultancy organised the National Summit of
School Principals on 23rdJuly, 2019 at IIC, New Delhi. The theme of the seminar was Discipline-
New Challenges. Dr. Ravindran, the founder and resource person of the day, in his own
inimitable manner kept the audience thoroughly engaged during the various sessions conducted
during the day with interactions and anecdotes.
The workshop was attended by Mr Rohit Dhingra, Maths Teacher and discipline in charge of
Cambridge School, Noida, Computer HOD and Class Coordinator of classes XI & XII, Ms. Preeti
Khanna and Ms. Nandita Sinha Roy, Vice Principal.
Some of the plenary sessions were on how to deal with the present generation of children
using firmness, the three new dimensions of discipline- prevention, action and resolution and how
to guide and counsel the present generation of teenagers and young adults.
The sessions were enjoyable, engaging and of great learning value.

HUMAN EVOLUTION
A workshop on Human Evolution was conducted by the Biology Department of Cambridge
School, Srinivaspuri on 26th July, 2019. It was attended by Ms. Susmita Dey and Ms. Kiran Sibal
from Cambridge School, Noida. In this workshop the speakers focused upon the evolutionary
process that led to the emergence of anatomically modern humans, beginning with the
evolutionary history of primates, in particular genus Homo; leading to the emergence of Homo
Sapiens as a distinct species of the hominid family, the great apes. Mr. Vikram Roy summarised
the whole session by giving useful inputs.
THE AWAKENED CITIZEN PROGRAMME WORKSHOP
A two day teachers training workshop on The Awakened Citizen Programme was conducted on
31st July, 2019 and 1st August, 2019 in the Roma Deb Auditorium of Cambridge School, Noida by
Ramakrishna Mission under the flagship project of CBSE. Vice Principal, Ms. Nandita Sinha Roy
addressed the audience by narrating a short story which concluded with a quote on how to mould
the students’ mind and enlighten them with positive values. Shri Manish Agarwal, Regional Officer
CBSE, Noida addressed the guest teachers informing them about the project that was being
implemented across all schools affiliated to CBSE. This was followed by an inspiring speech by
Shri Shantatmananda Swamiji who emphasized on how to bring about a change in the mind-set of
students thereby transforming the society. Ms. Piya Chakraborty, Programme Coordinator gave a
brief explanation on the curriculum to be followed in the classroom. The team members of
Ramakrishna Mission discussed various possibilities which can be inculcated among the students
through the method of DART- Discovery, Acceptance, Reflection and Transmission which was
explained through videos and power point presentations. On the second day the topic for the
workshop was Facilitators Development Programme in which the teachers were asked to
prepare presentations based on the explorations that were discussed on the first day of the
workshop viz. seeking perfection, living in harmony, recognising the sacred (Shraddha) seeking
truth etc. The workshop which was attended by 137 teachers from NCR was educative and
informative.
