We are very excited! There seems to be some misunderstanding around the speed and way in which works such as this occurs in school and there have been changes to the Department of Education processes in 2017. This was discussed at our December P&C meeting. The first step is to seek approval. It is not simply something we as a school can undertake. As a school we have submitted this application and have since had visits from asset management to advise of the requirements for such an installation. We now need to get revised quotes as there are requirements that now need to be included that were not in our original quotes. Once we have these quotes, we will submit them to asset management and will expect to have the works approved. Then we can proceed. Major works such as these are always a slow process in schools and I expect it will be the case in this situation. I will keep you updated on our progress. EXCELLENCE School Spectacular I was a very proud Principal spending two days at Qudos Arena with our amazing Stage 3 ensemble troupe. I would like to congratulate these students on their fantastic performance and for their hard work in training for this major event. A huge cheer to Miss Fry and Mrs Ptolemy for their enthusiasm and commitment to bringing out the best in our children. A big thank you to our wonderful parents for dropping off early and picking up late. It was well worth the effort. Can I ask parents to make payment for the costume this week or to return the costume to the school. Thanks for your help with this. CONNECTIONS Thanksgiving Morning Tea What a delightful morning it was for our staff and students to thank all parents for their support and help in our classrooms, across our events and school and what you do at home with your students. We are so appreciative of the helpers who work in our classrooms doing reading groups, who work across our school with banking, who work on or support our P&C or who work with your own children at home on their homework, with reading or helping out on that project. Most of all we thank you for supporting all we do. Thank you, thank you, thank you! We hope that those that could come along enjoyed our morning tea and our little assembly with lovely poems and words from our students and that special song from those special guest stars! A big thank you to Mrs Wright for her amazing leadership and organisation of the event. A big well done to all who helped out as well! P&C Meeting What a wonderful P&C meeting we enjoyed for the final P&C meeting for the year that was also our AGM. I would like to start by thanking Leanne Reed for a fantastic and purposeful three years as our P&C President. Leanne has been the driving force behind some amazing fundraising activities which have resulted in a high degree of funds being donated to the school for the benefit of our children. A big welcome to our P&C executive for 2018. Aboriginal Learning Goals Celebration

On Wednesday 29th November our Aboriginal studentscelebrated their learning journeys with staff, parents and friends. It was wonderful to see so many members of our schoolcommunity present at our celebration. The event was run bysome of our year 6 Aboriginal students: Natalie Sergiou, KatelynWhite and Tamikah Dunham with Nathan Sherriff in the soundroom. Our afternoon started with a Welcome Dance performedfor the first time by the K-2 girls ably supported by JamalHoskins on clap sticks. We were very proud of all our studentswho reached or are still working hard to achieve their LearningGoals.

Gardening Club UpdateIn Week 6 we ‘hilled’ our potatoes again by piling up dirt aroundthe plants. The students were impressed to see how much theyhad grown since last week. After that we spread some sugarcane mulch around the other vegetables. We talked about howwe could not really mulch the potatoes because they would stillneed more soil hilled around them.

We checked out the pond on the way down the hill and thechildren spotted both turtles. We have been calling the largeone ‘Tuttle’. We tried to think of famous turtle names for thesmaller turtle, and Mr Bale suggested ‘Franklin’. So in thephoto, you can see Franklin hiding in his (or her) shell on the log, while Tuttle is in the water climbing sideways along the log.

In Week 7 we worked on the potatoes again, mounding up soilaround the new growth. Some of the children still find it hardto believe that it is all right to bury part of the plants - includingleaves. Someone dug up a little orange tuber and other childrenwere quick to point out that it was part of the sweet potatoeswhich we planted last year. We checked out the tomatoes andsaw that some of the little flowers have formed fruit already.

NDIS

Requesting the delivery of an NDIS-fundeddisability therapy service for your child at a NSWpublic school

With families gaining greater access to NDIS funding to supportthe learning and health of their children, it is a great time toremind families of The Department of Education’s procedurethat applies when families are requesting that these services bedelivered within the school setting.

There are four key steps for parents and carers who seek tohave NDIS-funded services delivered in school:
