PRESENTATION OF THE SYSTEM
The CAÏMAN system comprises a plane siding usable for façade facing, or interior facing. The assembly of these coatings on an adjusted subframe gives the whole of the façade an scaly appearance and relief. This siding is completed with a set of accessories made by bending to treat the particular points (acroterions, flaps, angles …).
This system is designed for implementation on new or refurbished works: public or private, industrial, commercial or lodging buildings.
TECHNICAL FEATURES
Manufacture: by bending Manufacture dimensions (height and width) are variable. Maximum dimensions: CAÏMAN
made from pre-coated steel of 75/100ths 800 mm x 1200 mm (Ht x L) - CAÏMAN made from stainless steel 5/10ths 600 mm x 1000 mm (Ht x L)
The facings are pre-drilled in the factory to enable them to be attached by self-threading screws to the adjusted subframe or to the support panels.Special feature: The facing assembly system implies installation of a very wide adjusted subframe and placed obliquely, in line with the angle imposed by the offset of the panels between each other.

The finishing elements are manufactured from the same plates as the CAÏMAN panels, in maximum lengths of 6 m. IMPLEMENTATION
The CAÏMAN panels are intended to be installed on wall rails according to the professional rules for manufacture and implementation of metallic siding. The system must be installed on an adjusted subframe allowing a ventilated sheet of air between the panels and the support wall or thermal insulation. This adjusted subframe must satisfy the requirements of C.S.T.B. book no. 3194 January-February 2000 – "General conditions of design and implementation of the metal frame and thermal insulation of offset siding.”
They can also be installed on a frame covered with aluminium plates or profiled sheet iron. This technique makes it unnecessary to install an oblique frame and may enable the installation of a slightly curved siding plane in line with the two vertical planes.

ATTACHMENT
The plates are attached with self-drilling screws with a minimal diameter of 5.5 mm for assembly with a frame with a thickness of 1.5 to 2 mm. We recommend using screws with a printed screw head (Torx, hex, etc.) in order to limit the risk of damage to the plates return.
Each CAÏMAN plate is pre-drilled on the upper horizontal edge to take the attachments.
SPECIAL FEATURES OF THE FRAME
Since CAÏMAN plates are offset horizontally and vertically in relation to each other, the frame must be inclined in the siding plane to be able to attach all the screws (technical drawings – fig. 1,2 & 3)
The offsets dx and dy of the plates are limited to:
dx ≤ 0,2 X (X: length of the front face of the plate) dy ≤ 0,15 Y (Y: height of the front face of the plate)
for reasons of ease of assembly and mechanical maintenance of the plates between each other (technical drawings fig. 4 to 6).
The inclination angle of the subframe adjusted in relation to the horizontal plane depends on the offset dy and the lengths of the plates. Given the layout of the plates in relation to each other, it is necessary for each façade to take account of the direction of the prevailing wind in order to direct the installation of the CAIMAN plates (overlap) in line with this direction. This aims at reducing the effect of wind draw on the facade.

VARIATION WITH HORIZONTAL RAIL PRE-MOUNTED IN THE FACTORY
CAIMAN plates are also available with a horizontal rail mounted in the factory. This set is assembled on a vertical adjusted subframe the spacing of which depends on the length of the CAIMAN panels.Since the horizontal rail is twice as long as the spacing of the subframes, the product is optimized by using a CAIMAN panel having a slightly lower length.
CAIMAN Length (mm) Rail length (mm) Frame spacing (mm)1200 to 1000 1200 5501000 to 800 1000 500800 to 600 900 450
N.B.: The vertical offset of the panels must not be less than 90 mm to enable installation of the rails.
PACKING AND TRANSPORT
A delivery invoice is glued to each package stating:
Customer order reference, Batch reference, Customer name Product type
Facing thickness Bundle content (number and length) Colour reference of pre-coated plates.
CAÏMAN plates are packed on the production line. The weight of the bundles may in no case exceed 2.5 tons.
CAÏMAN plates and their accessories are to be transported under conditions that preserve the integrity of the characteristics (shimmed up packages, carefully stacked and strapped, tarpaulin-covered trucks).
ORGANIZATION
PMA is the product manufacturer and does not install the product.CAÏMAN panels are to be installed by contractors having the required professional qualifications.Design and studies prior to executing the facade are not incumbent on the maker PMA nor on the distributor companies. On request, PMA can provide technical assistance
The purpose of the present specification is not to give details on all points of implementation but to state the main technical definitions of the panels and their particular characteristics. To help in the study of the facades, it is complemented in the appendix with particular point design suggestions and finishing elements. The drawings in the appendix are only given as examples, any other solutions may be considered.

UNLOADING, STORAGE AND HANDLING
Handling operations are carried out in consideration of the particular features of the products. They are to be handled vertically by the edges.
The panels are stored in bundles, slightly inclined in the longitudinal direction on a flat surface, without stacking more than two packages. Storage time on the work site is to be reduced to the minimum. The essential precaution consists in avoiding water from entering by runoff or condensation between the panels. Store sheltered from sunlight.
The removable protective film covering the CAIMAN panels must be removed within 15 days after shipping.
Metallic facades have to be normally maintained in accordance with the prescriptions of the Professional Rules for Metallic Siding (article 4-2-91 exterior maintenance).
Although naturally cleanable by runoff of rainwater, if needed, they can be cleaned periodically with household detergent, without chlorine added, with no use of abrasive or solvent, followed by rinsing with fresh water.
Maintenance notably consists of: Eliminating various vegetation (such as moss) and any incompatible matter that might be
deposited on the facing surface. Repair of any localized degradation as soon as detected, such as incipient corrosion
caused, for example, by exterior deterioration actions.
PRINCIPLE DETAIL DRAWINGS
The drawings below are examples of treatment of particular points when installing CAIMAN panels for siding. Any other solutions can be considered and studied by the installation company in compliance with the specific features of the product.
