Callslip & Universal Borrowing
Incoming Items
Callslip vs Universal Borrowing (UB)
• Callslip= Items going to and from 2 year campus libraries
• Universal Borrowing (UB)= Items going to and from 4 year campus libraries
When the SCLS person comes to pick up our outgoing items, they will leave us with incoming items
To process items requested by our students and faculty, such as this book from UW-Parkside, simply discharge it from Voyager
Circulation
Items from other libraries may have the barcode in a different spot, such as on the front like this book, or on the inside front or back cover
After discharging an item from another library, an Item on Hold slip will print in the work room
On this slip, you will find the
patron’s name and the Hold Expires date
Fold this sheet in half the long way and write the patron’s last name and the date it will expire at the top
Put this paper inside the book so you can see the patron’s name and expiration date and place it on the Items on Hold shelf
* Items are in alphabetical order by patron’s last name.
Find the Monthly Stat sheet in the Callslip/UB Folder in Julie’s office
On the Stat sheet, mark down the item we borrowed (recieved) from another library. In this case it was from a 4 year campus library, so we make a mark under UB.
When the patron comes in for the item they have on hold, simply charge it to them as you would any other item.
Items Being Returned From Other Libraries
After discharging the item in Circulation, get the Callslip/UB folder from Julie’s office. Use the ship date on the yellow slip (if provided)
to find the batch that contains this particular Callslip Request
Find the Callslip Request in the batch and recycle it.If you can’t find the Callslip Request, that is OK. It may not have
been put in the folder.
Take off all the paper work (check to see if there is any within the book)
Sensitize the item (DO NOT SENSITIZE VHS), then place it on the To Be Shelved shelf
