Here's a list of tooth-staining culprits. The good news is that your personalized treatment plan with us can reverse the effects !

Certain color-rich foods and beverages such as coffee, tea, red wine, tomato sauce, and berries can stain the surface of your tooth’s enamel.

Strong acids found in sodas, sour candies, citrus fruits, as wells other fruits and vegetables, can etch away your enamel and make it easier for stains to set in.

Tooth darkening can be a side effect

of certain antihistamines and blood pressure medications, as well as other drugs. Young children exposed to tetracycline may have discoloration later in life.

Silver amalgam fillings may corrode over time and produce a gray stain that diffuses to the surrounding enamel.

As you age, your tooth enamel gets thinner.

This exposes the darker underlying layer of tooth structure (dentin), making your teeth appear discolored. Teeth grinding accelerates tooth wear.

Tar and nicotine are two chemicals found in all tobacco products

that can create stubborn surface stains.

When an injury reaches the pulp

of your tooth (which contains blood vessels), the internal bleeding can darken your teeth to a grayish or brownish color.

Excessive fluoride exposure as a child can cause mottling (white spots) on the teeth.

You have “mini-fossils” in your mouth” that tell a microscopic history of your health.

Current research touts the many health benefits of maintaining an adequate level of vitamin D. And now, archeologists studying the remains of centuries-old teeth have found a new record of vitamin D.

Scientists with the McMaster’s Department of Anthropology in Ontario, Canada, have determined

that the tooth’s microscopic structure opens a window into the oral and overall health of people who lived in the 17th and 18th centuries.

The discovery is significant since it yields valuable information about vitamin D deficiency and its connection to oral health.

Teeth Reveal “Tree-like” Rings !

Archeologists typically study bone tissue. The problem is that bones change throughout life and after death.

However, since dentin—the bone-like material under your tooth enamel—doesn’t break down, it’s a rich source of information.

Permanent abnormalities show up in dentin when the body lacks vitamin D, creating “tree-like rings!” Gaps or bubbles were also found in dentin.

This gives a whole new meaning to the “lasting effects” of oral health ! ❖

I broke a tooth right in the middle of a dinner meeting and needed to see a dentist.

I found one through my local Chamber of Commerce and made an appointment.

A crown was placed on my tooth, and believe me, my dentist had to work hard since I have small teeth and a small mouth. I was very impressed with their work !

My dentist is timely and efficient. Being in sales, I need to know exactly when I will be done with my appointments, and I was in and out of there in the time period that I was quoted.

One of the things I liked most about my dentist, besides the wonderful staff, was that all my options and the pros and cons of each were explained to me thoroughly. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for great dental service. ❖
