"Call Me Maybe" is an up-beat pop track draws influ-ences from dance-pop and disco. After reaching the top position in Canada.
Carly's Rae Jepsen's was born on No-vember 20, 1985. She is a Canadian re-cording artist and singer/songwriter from Mission, British Columbia. In 2007, she came third in the fifth season of Canadian Idol. Carly's Rae Jepsen's song "Call Me Maybe” it was written by Josh Ramsay, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Tavish Crowe. Produced by Josh Ram-say and released on February 2012 by Interscope.
Josh Ramsay's production
uses a light touch that
bounces synthesized string
chords off the words sung by
Carly Rae Jepsen. The back-
ing track is as insistent as the
vocals but never gets in the
way. She has been signed to
Justin Bieber's Schoolboy Re-
cords. Justin Bieber, Selena
Gomez, Big Time Rush, and
friends put together a home-
made music video that is
boosting the fortunes of the
song even further.
"Call Me Maybe" is a clean, friendly, upbeat gem of a pop song. For anyone who has listened to it, “Call me maybe” is pretty much a fact that after the first listen the chorus will be as fully lodged into your head as your actual brain is and your finger may as well be super glued to the repeat button.
In Carly's Rae Jepsen's latest interview there were a few ques-tions which Casey Lewis from Teen Vogue asked her in person, which revealed the truth behind the song “Call me maybe”:
What is "Call Me Maybe"
about, exactly?
It started as a folk song. I really
liked the idea of acting on the
spark you feel from a first en-
counter with somebody. They
come and they go, and some-
times it's really inspiring. Even if
you're the girl, you can ask for a
number.
How does "Call Me Maybe"
compare to your other music?
There's been a progression in my
sound. I made a conscious deci-
sion to follow my gut, and now it's
a little less folk and a little more
pop. "Call Me Maybe" was an
experiment to try a new sound,
and it's turning out well. It's a
bit of a change. I grew up in a
house where we listened to
James Taylor and Van Morri-
son, so I think it's natural that
my first album represented
that. But now I've found my-
self in a Kimbra-La Rue-
Dragonette phase.
