President’s Report
Hello all, I know the snow has not been the greatest, and the weather man said so at the beginning of the season. Well, there are a number of things to cover.
2016 Club Executive Elections: With regards to the club elections, a great opportunity: six positions on the executive are open for your consideration. We are facing a number of areas of change, and I would like to see more of the membership shine with your talents and ideas, this fall. As which positions will be available, I won't say here. I believe that we have a strong group and can rise to the occasion
Calgary Sled Swap and Show: The Calgary Sled Swap and Show this coming fall, is another place of need. This time it is up to us to organize it instead of the ASA. This brings both freedom and opportunities, not that there are no challenges. Many hands make light work.
Edmonton Snow Show: For the Edmonton show, I need leadership for the show and someone for the silent auction. I can give support but need people to step up and take leadership roles. This is important, for club exposure and part of our funding. Finally, your continued input and presence at the meetings. This club is for all members and I think it is cool to hear from you.
Randall Callan CSC President

Membership’s Report Welcome to March everyone. Well it’s that time again we get to have peek at the new Sled line up for 2017. They just keep getting better and better. Also this Sledding season is slowly coming to an end. Well, I hope everyone has had an opportunity to get out and have some fun in the hills. I know work has been keeping me at bay for most of this winter, but I am hopeful to get out before it’s over. Aside from that, our Club Membership numbers are as follows:
112 Family Memberships, 31 of them new to the Club, for a total of 141 members
14 Corporate Members, 1 of which is new to our Club.
We have sold 155 ASA Trail Passes to date plus the 17 ASA Passes directed to the Club from the ASA bringing the total to 172. However it would be nice if the 17 came from a Club supported level.
Just to shed some light on the new tool for the Club…..PayPal has in my opinion been very successful. Just to break it down, PayPal has been used 27 times to buy Family/Corporate memberships for a total of 48 Trail Passes which is almost 1/3 of our Club numbers … not bad. Anyway that’s it from the Membership side, sled safe.

Vice President’s Report Hi Everyone,
STARS Donations STARS numbers are coming in and it looks like the ride plus the 50/50 is going to bring us to around $4600. Comments at the executive meeting indicated that it would be nice to commit the extra few hundred to round that up to an even $5000. A motion will be made at our general to that end. This will be a fantastic result for the year and will be a great presentation piece at our onsite event March 22nd. Thanks again to everyone who supported the cause this year.
Logo Wear Logo wear is getting finished up. We had a couple of minor issues with backorders but we are still looking to have our product ready for me to deliver at the general meeting. I will be sending out emails to all those who have an outstanding balances so that we can settle up and get this closed off. For anyone who did not order a hoodie I would like inform you that I did have to order a few extra items to hit our minimum count of 20.
Calgary Snowmobile Club – March 2016 Newsletter 4
Vice President’s Report continued …
Logo Wear continued … Available for purchase at the meeting will be Fruit of the Loom hoodies in the following sizes and configurations: Black - Large - pull over - $45 Black - Large - zippered - $52.25 Black - XL - pull over- $45 Black - XL - zippered - $52.25
West Castle / Kootney Pass On a fun note I was able to sneak in a ride down at West Castle a couple weeks back. We went over the Kootney Pass and went south down the Flat Head valley. It was nice to go as it’s been a few years and with the talks around the new land designations we weren't sure how much longer this might be available. Conditions were mixed with decent base but also some rough trails and some VERY sticky spring like snow.
Seen behind us is 12% road, a new road for us to explore. It was a bit of an incline but not bad but let me tell you I sure was glad I had the 800 motor and not a 600 as I was 3/4 throttle minimum all the way up breaking trail in the wet cement like base. We finally got far enough south and east that we may have actually hit the Waterton park boundary as we saw signage that no snowmobiles or OHV's were permitted.
A good time to turn around not only to follow the rules but pushing heavy snow for 140km round trip took a good amount of fuel. It was a very scenic ride with some fun play areas. I sure hope we can do it again.
Club Executive Elections On a final note, we are looking at some significant vacancies in the executive this coming year as some long time members are stepping down. I encourage everyone who has an interest to consider putting their name forward.

Club Membership vs ASA Membership An ASA Membership by itself does not include a Club Membership. A Club Membership, however, does include the ASA Membership plus additional benefits specific to Club Members.
The Club membership entitles the member to:
Attend Club Rides
Attend Club general meetings and functions (Horseshoe Tournament, Windup Party, etc.)
Receive Club newsletters, Ride Notices, Trail Maintenance events, etc. by email
Receive notice of dealer / sponsor discounts for Club Members (show your Club Membership Card)
Vote on Club initiatives and the annual Club Executive elections.
A Calgary Snowmobile Club Membership (2016) costs ($100), which includes:
ASA Membership - Trail Pass ($80)
Calgary Snowmobile Club membership dues ($20). The $20 Club membership dues go directly to the Club, not to the ASA, and help cover Club-specific expenses such as:
renting facilities for our monthly general meetings and executive meetings
banking fees
mailing costs
web-site expenses/changes
etc. To ensure that you purchase a Club Membership and not just an ASA Trail Pass, please purchase your Club Membership through any of the following options:
A Club general meeting
