Dear Parents/Caregivers,

First of all, a huge congratulations to everyone who attended the Student Led Conferences last week. It is a wonderful

opportunity for our students to talk about and celebrate their learning. This experience supports our school goal of

increasing student agency and student voice in learning.

On Monday at assembly we presented our athletic awards, the results appear later in this newsletter. We had the

Paynesville and District Kindergarten come to school on Tuesday for an excursion. On Thursday we held our Book

Parade and the Grade 3 students went to Maddox Garden’s to celebrate Book Week with the residents there.

Dads, friends, Nanas and other extended family who helped our students with their costumes.

Maddocks Gardens

After our book parade on Thursday the Grade 3 students

travelled to Maddocks Gardens to celebrate Book Week with the

residents there. The students met the residents, talked with

them about their costume and read a book of their choice. After

this we had a shared story, played a game and sang songs

together.

It was a beautiful visit, the residents were so impressed with our

students and want us to come and visit again tomorrow! It was

easy to see the joy our visit had bought everyone. Thanks to

Kate Churches for helping to organise this visit, we will look

forward to coming again next year.

CSIRO STEMM In Schools

Kinder Visit

On Tuesday the Paynesville and District Kindergarten came to visit

us. The kinder students enjoyed playing in the playground, a tour of

our school, a concert by some of our music students (thanks Maddy,

Mitchell and Tom), cooking in the kitchen and activities in the prep

room.

This excursion supports the kindergarten’s transition to school

program. Students attending PPS in 2020 will begin their transition

by attending school Fridays in Term 4.

CSIRO STEMM In Schools

A big thank you to Eleanor and Angelo who worked

in the Grade 1/2 classrooms this morning. This

morning’s session was part of Paynesville Primary

School’s partnership with CSIRO STEMM (Science,

Technology, Engineering, Maths and Medicine).

The session focussed on eyes, sight, vision and

light. Highlights were dissecting eyes!!!, one sided

shapes, lenses, prisms and the primary colours of

light (which are red, blue and green).
