Dynamic Database Fields

While other programs provide afixed set of fields within their data-bases, CADWorx/P&ID provides adynamic solution. At the beginningor at any time during a project,CADWorx/P&ID allows you to add,subtract, delete or modify the fieldsrequired within your database. Forexample, Client A needs four datafields associated with the Vesseltables and Client B needs 20. Tomodify your database structure,go to the Table Setup dialog box.Then, just add, delete or edit anyof the fields required within yourprojects relational database. No

database management knowledgeis required.

Attributes are not new to AutoCADusers, but they are used effectivelyin CADWorx/P&ID. An attribute iscombined with a block to form aneditable entity within AutoCAD justas before. The COADE developersdecided to use the best of the newand old together. CADWorx/P&IDcombines these familiar attributeswith blocks that automatically asso-ciate themselves with the database.

If you name an attribute in thedrawing using the same name asin the database table column, thedrawing will automatically updateitself when the database is changed.If the drawing is changed, then thedatabase will change. This ensuresthe drawing and database arealways in sync.

Keep Old DrawingsYour old drawings and the informa-tion they contain are still useful.You do not have to redraw.CADWorx/P&ID includes powerfulmapping routines that allow you to

For stand-alone operation, Level 1 allows you to generate P&IDs

without an associated database. This level is useful for basic draftingof projects where data management is unnecessary. Level 1 providesconventional blocks with attributes you can edit and control, and blockscan be added with ease to match any user requirements. It is a simplesolution for a simple system.

If you wish to attach other documentation to a single P&ID, Level 2

is the answer.This level allows you to maintain complete documentationstructure the database just the way you want it and then store it internaly within the drawing. Later, when the drawing is retrieved, the databaserecreates itself to provide you with all the information attached to the

single P&ID.

If you need to manage projects where several designers and staff from

different disciplines work on the same data, Level 3 is your solution.

CADWorx/P&ID can match any data management requirement. Here,database resources can be entered or updated at any station. This levelprovides the utmost in process data and document control within yourP&IDs. It sets up a central relational database that provides the designeor process engineer a central location to change or maintain the com-plete process. Information changed in the database will automatically beupdated in the drawings while information changed in the drawings willautomatically be updated in the database.
