RESIDENT CAMPAges 8-14Resident Camp at Camp Torenta brings life back to sim-pler times! Join us this year for life unplugged. Camp is where we meet new friends, build friendships, and have fun! With a wide variety of activities, this summer is sure to engage the young mind and create memories that last a lifetime. The experiences that campers have while at camp help build core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility, plus a sense of fun. Send your camper to Camp Torenta Resident Camp this summer so they can slow down, unplug, and see what the simple life is all about! All resident camp sessions are co-ed.

The YMCA at Camp Torenta Staff are carefully screened for working with children. Counselors must be at least eighteen years of age. The staff team participates in an extensive pre-camp training and orientation. All staff are certified in CPR and First Aid. The waterfront staff are certified Lifeguards.

Each resident camper receives a totem pole and has the opportunity throughout the week to earn patches in nine different program areas. These areas include swimming, canoeing, rock climbing, archery, fishing, teamwork, and more. Patches are presented in a special ceremony at the end of each week. Campers can return each summer to earn more patches for their totem pole!

DAY CAMPAges 6-12Day Camp at Camp Torenta is a way for your child to get a taste of the simple life without the extended stay. The activities at camp create and build memories that last a lifetime. Each week has its own theme and activi-ties that reflect the theme. In addition, each camper has the option to stay for the Resident Camp experience for the Wednesday overnight. They will get to sing camp songs and relax by the campfire. All activities are geared to encourage participation and expose campers to new experiences. Above all, camp teaches character development and values that last a lifetime: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Send your camper to Camp Torenta Day Camp this summer so they can see what the “BEST. SUMMER. EVER.” is all about!

With a camper to staff ratio that never exceeds eight to one, we can give an excellent level of care to all campers.

DAY CAMP EXTRASWEDNESDAY OVERNIGHTAll six of the Day Camp sessions feature an optional overnight stay. Campers will enjoy campfires, special events and games that are not available during the normal day camp schedule. The overnight includes Wednesday dinner and Thursday breakfast. If you would like your child to participate in the Wednesday overnight please indicate on your registration form.

COST: $15 PER WEEK

EXTENDED DAY CAMPFamilies in need of an early drop off or late pick up can sign-up for this program and be assured of a safe, supervised, and fun environment for their children to await their ride home.

Campers must be enrolled in advance for the Extended Day Camp program.

On Friday join us for a Yogurt Parfait Party! Your entire family is invited. Campers will be ready to check-out at 4:00 pm, but please stay and enjoy a yogurt parfait with fruit and granola. You’ll get to meet the staff, enjoy camp activities and share a sweet treat on the shores of Lake Mitchell!

TEEN ADVENTURECAMPAges 12-15

This camp focuses on outdoor adventure skills during the week that build up to the overnight adventure trip. During the week, teens learn camping, wilder-ness travel, and canoeing skills. They will learn about proper gear, cooking and nutrition, loading a pack, setting a site, campfire building, safety, paddling, packing a boat, life on the river, and then end the week with a fun overnight trip down the Manistee River. Along with the week-long emphasis there will also be time for teens to participate in their favorite camp activities like waterfront, boating, all camp games, camp fires, and all other things that make Camp Torenta so much fun!

In partnership with the Single Track Sisters Fat Bike Team, this camp focuses on progressive skills of mountain bike trail riding that build up to an after-noon adventure trail ride at the Headquarters Trails in Cadillac at the end of the week. During the week, teens learn bicycling basics including equipment, clothing, maintenance, and safety. Along with the week-long emphasis there will also be time for teens to participate in their favorite camp activities like waterfront, boating, all camp games, camp fires, and all other things that make Camp Torenta so much fun!

* Personal helmet and mountain bike are preferred but NOT requirements to sign up for this session.

In addition to the great Camp Torenta Staff, vol-unteers with extensive knowledge and experi-ence in wilderness camping, canoeing, and biking will join the staff during teen weeks specifically to work with the teens. They will accompany the girls and their counselors on their final trail ride and the boys on their overnight canoe trip.
