List of Exercises using software capable of Drafting and Modeling1. Study of capabilities of software for Drafting and Modeling Coordinate Systems (absolute, relative, Polar, etc.) Creation of simple figures like polygon and general multi-Line figures. 2. Drawing of a Title Block with necessary text and projection symbol. 3. Drawing of curves like parabola, spiral, involute using Bspline or cubic spline. 4. Drawing of front view and top view of simple solids like prism, pyramid, cylinder, cone, etc, and dimensioning. 5. Drawing front view, top view and side view of objects from the given pictorial views (e.g.-block, Base of a mixie, Simple stool, Objects with hole and curves). 6. Drawing of a plan of residential building (Two bed rooms, kitchen, hall, etc.) 7. Drawing of a simple steel truss. 8. Drawing sectional views of prism, pyramid, cylinder, cone, etc, 9. Drawing isometric projection of simple objects. I0. Creation of 3-D models of simple objects and obtaining 2-D multi-view drawings from 3-D model.

THE KAVERY ENGINEERING COLLEGE, MECHERIMethods of indicating dimensions: 1) Unidirectional system 2) Aligned system Unidirectional system: In this method, the dimensions shall be horizontally placed so that they can be read from the bottom of the drawing sheet. The dimension values are interrupted to their dimension lines and are preferably. Aligned system: In this method, the dimensions shall be horizontally placed parallel to and above the dimension lines. They are preferably in the middle and not by interrupting the dimension line. Here the dimension can be read from the bottom (or) from the right side of the drawings. Methods of dimensions: (a) Chain dimensioning (b) Parallel Dimensioning. Some of the Dimensioning Rules: i. ii. iii. iv.v.

Arrow heads must touch the extension line. Location of holes should be dimensioned in the TOP VIEWS. Arrange the series of dimensions on a continuous line. Keep the dimensions outside of the drawings. Always place a longer dimension outside a shorter one. Always place the angles outside the views of an object. Dimension lines should be spaced uniformly. Dimension lines should not touch the object. About 1.5mm gap should be allowed.

CO-ORDINATE SYSTEMSAIM: To study about various co ordinate systems and to create simple figures like polygon, multiline figures, etc. SOFTWARE USED: Solid edge V20 DESCRIPTION: Absolute coordinate system:Absolute coordinate systems are based on the UCS origin (0, 0) which is the intersection of the X and Y axes. Use absolute coordinate when you know the precise X and Y value of the point. Format:(Value of X, value of Y) Relative coordinate system:Relative Co-Ordinates are based on the last point entered. Use relative co-ordinates when you know the location of a point in relation to the previous point. To specify relative co-ordinates, precedes the co-ordinate with a @ sign. Format:@ (change in X, change in of Y) Polar coordinate system:To use polar co-ordinates we have to specify a point, enter a distance and an angle separated by an angle bracket (
