4 mm Crochet Hook

Tapestry Needle

Finished size - Length: approx 8.5“ Width: approx 9”

DC - double crochet

FPDC - front post double crochet

BPDC - back post double crochet

Rep - repeat

{ } - repeat items inside brackets

( ) - items inside are made into the same stitch/space

NOTESAll DC stitches are made in between the posts of each stitch, with exception of FPDC and BPDC. [photo 1]

DC stitches that follow FPDC, should be placed in the space directly after. [photo 2]

Excluding row 25 all FPDC are made around the FPDC from previous round. This way the posts will all align and create a rib.

To keep an accurate count, use a stitch marker to indicate the first FPDC in each round.

02/PATTERNHAT / BODY Using green color, hat will start at the top, and will be worked down in a spiral.

1. MR, CH2 - counts as 1st DC, + 15DC into the ring [photo 3] -- 16sts

2. FPDC around CH2 from round 1 [photos 4-5], DC in space directly after FPDC [photo 6], skip next post, {FPDC around next post, DC in space directly after FPDC, skip next post} rep 6 more times -- 16sts

3. {FPDC, 2DC in space directly after, DC in next space} rep until end of round [photo 7] -- 32sts

4. {FPDC, 2DC in space directly after, 2DC, 1DC} rep until end of round [photo 8] -- 48sts

5. {FPDC, 3DC in space directly after, DC in each of the next 4 spaces, skip next space} rep until end of round [photo 9] -- 64sts

6. {FPDC, 4DC in space directly after, skip space, DC in next 5 spaces, skip space} rep until end of round -- 80sts

7-23. {FPDC, 4DC in space directly after, skip 3 spaces, DC in next 5 spaces, skip space} rep until end of round -- 80sts Beginning of brim. It’s ok if the edge appears scalloped/wavy at first, it will even out after couple of rows.

24. DC in each space -- 80sts

25-32. {FPDC, BPDC} rep until end of round -- 80sts

Break off yarn, and weave in tail, then fold the entire brim portion. [photos 10-11]

FLOWER Using purple color the flower will be worked in rows.

1. CH 50, 1SC into 2nd chain from the hook, {CH, skip st, SC into next st} rep until end of

row, CH and turn

Now you will begin working on the petals. All the stitches in a single petal will be

worked as a cluster into the same CH space, from round 1. [photo 12]

There will be 24 total petals.

2. Petal 1: into next chain space (SLST, CH, 3DC, CH, SLST) [photo 13]

Petals 2-4: repeat petal 1

Petals 5-10: into next chain space (SLST, CH, 4DC, CH, SLST)

Petals 11-16: into next chain space (SLST, CH, 5DC, CH, SLST)

Petals 17-24: into next chain space (SLST, CH, 6DC, CH, SLST) [photo 14]

Break off yarn, leaving a tail for sewing. Starting from the side with 3DC petals, roll into

a flower shape, then sew together to secure. [photos 15-16] Don’t worry if the back of the

flower looks messy, it will be hidden. With the remaining yarn tail attach the flower to the

top of the hat. [photos 17-18]
