A snapshot of the past season says a lot about where the sport of kitesurfing and Cabrinha are headed for 2007 - 2008. Bow and High Depower kites have taken over the industry and now make up more than

90% of the kites being sold today. Our decision to offer bridled non-bow designs such as

the popular HD kites along with our industry leading Bow designs has allowed us to cover

the full spectrum of performance and price with no compromise on safety. Override’s de-

power on demand still remains the best means of depowering your kite in an instant.

The 07 -08 range of Cabrinha kites is more refined and targeted than ever. We have made

a much clearer separation in the categories to provide specialized equipment for the most

popular styles of riding. We have added a dedicated surf kite and surf boards which epito-

mize the very soul of the Cabrinha brand.

With the increase in the wind range of our Bow and HD kites came an in-

crease in the load stresses. In 2007 we have implemented strategic counter

measures which focus on added durability in the high load areas. Through

the use of various materials we now provide a balance of strength and

weight to deliver our most durable kites yet. Higher denier materials along

the strut and LE seams provide solid stitch holding characteristics and

alleviate any possibility for stitch combing. The selective placement of

higher weighted material along the trailing edge deters against tears cre-

ated by “tomahawk” style kite crashes on water, snow, or land.

Our completely new board range offers the highest performance, most ad-

vanced boards to date. Lighter weights are achieved through the reduc-

tion in our component accessory weights. New molded footpads

cradle the sole of your foot like a shoe while dampening im-

pact during those hard landings. Our new lighter foot strap

is designed for comfort, easy attachment and adjustment.

We’ve implemented new concave bottom shapes which

create grip along the rails and a faster line through the

center sections.

Kitesurfing is experiencing growth in many ways through-

Ease of use has reached a whole new level with the addition of Sprint™ - our unique single point rapid inflation system. Just pull the kite out of the bag, hook the pump to a single valve and inflate the entire kite to the desired pressure.

The supplied leash pump and threaded valve connection keeps your kite under control even when pumping up directly in the wind.

Once the kite is pumped you can choose to clip off, or isolate the air contained in the struts. At the end of the session you can choose to deflate your kite completely by disengaging the strut air clips. Or you can keep your struts inflated and put your kite away rolled up so that the next session will takes just minutes to set up.

To place the bar into Override mode you can simply push past the stopper unit and the kite will immediately begin to depower and drop from the sky. To depower the kite, push the control bar into the Override Mode, unseating the Override™ 2 Stopper Unit (fig. 2). The kite will immediately depower and begin to drop from the sky (fig. 3). The Override™ 2 Stopper Unit features a positive locking and unlocking action and is now much easier to activate and reset, giving the rider even more freedom to spin the bar or to depower the kite.

The Override 2 stopper unit provides a place to rest your control bar if you’d like to unspin your lines. When the Override stopper unit is seated on its sleeve you can temporarily let go of the control bar and unspin your lines.

The Override method of depower has become the preferred choice from seasoned pros to 1st time riders. It doesn’t get any easier than this. Just place the control bar in the Override mode and the kite will immediately begin to depower and drop from the sky. With Override you can avoid many accidents before they happen by maintaining control of the power of your kite at all times.

OVERRIdE MOdE AREA

The Override™ 2Tension Ring allows the rider to choose the level of pressure it takes to unseat the stopper unit from its sleeve an enter Override™ mode. With each click of the tension ring, the release load in-creases and more force will be required to put the control bar into Override™ Mode.

Override™ 2 can also be used when per-forming unhooked tricks. First, be sure to unseat the Override™ stopper unit from its sleeve. Then connect your leash to the ring on the harness loop. If you drop the bar during a missed trick the kite will im-mediately depower and begin to drop from the sky.

RELAUNCH ASSISTOVERVIEW

The kite’s bridle makes relaunching off the water or snow

a snap. When the kite is leading edge down on the water

or snow, just pull on either the left or right leader line.

The wing tip will rise off of the surface and allow the rider

to position the kite into the side launch position. This is

all possible without the use of a 5th line or additional

wind tip fittings.

This season we take durability head-on with the ad-dition of transitional strut panel materials and rein-forced LE closing seams. We have reinforced the high load areas of our kites with a transitionally weighted material. This well-placed material acts as a buffer zone between the rigid strut areas and the canopy. The entire canopy of all kites are flat seamed and taped prior to sewing. This is 20% stronger than the free hand sewn method of a top stitch. The leading edge closing seams now have addition-al layering to eliminate stitch combing.

The entire trailing edge implements a two-ply of tough 70 gsm material for added durability and strength.

Cabrinha implements many new construction tech-niques to improve the overall durability of the kite. We use flat seams exclusively in all of the leading edge panels. This results in stronger seaming espe-cially in the closing seam. All of the body panels also feature taped flat seams for added strength.

The full contact between the strut and the leading edge helps to ensure a rigid frame. The positive con-nection not only provides stability while the kite is in flight but delivers added durability and a rapid re-launch.

The Convert bow kite is a reflection of the people who do our sport. Rugged, and technical...with a sense of ease. The Convert is simply the easiest and most se-cure way to get yourself up and riding in the shortest amount of time, with the least amount of hassles.

The secret to the Convert’s simplicity lies in its stable Pro Span™ arc and bow kite bridle. The combination of these two features creates an easy flying kite that gives you complete control over the power and more importantly...the depower. The way the Convert quickly flies forward to the edge of the window makes it a snap to get past your first milestone in kitesurfing - Going Up-wind.

But that’s not where it stops. The Convert is designed to grow with your abilities so that as you quickly learn, the kite will back you up with performance to match. RELAUNCH ON COMMANDThe Convert’s relaunch capability is so easy that your hands nev-er have to leave the control system. By simply pointing the end of the control system towards the kite, the wing tip will rise off of the water and launch the kite into the sky. Unlike other relaunch meth-ods, The Convert allows you to decide when to launch the kite and which direction it goes into the air. Its simple... and it keeps the control in your hands... where it should be.

Two of the elements credited for the Convert’s amazing relaunch are:The curved shape of the leading edge and the swept wing tips. Together they allow the kite to “unstick” by reducing contact to the water or snow when the leading edge is face down. The constant curvature of the leading edge allows the kite to easily roll onto a wing tip and lift off the water.

The Bow kite bridle is also responsible for allowing you to choose the direction you would like to launch the kite. This clearly puts the Convert in a class of its own amongst a sea of hybrid kites which don’t allow this function. Super light, tough, low density foam core. The basic advantage of this material is its light-weight, and ease of milling a precise core shape; producing a consistent result every time. Average Density: 75kg/m³

Vertically laminated Paulownia stringers produce a high compression/ lightweight core. Paulownia has one of the highest strength to weight ratios of all wood spe-cies.The result is simple. Bullet proof, with a smooth, consistent flex pattern. Average Density: 310kg/ m³

The X stands for Extruded Poly Styrene (XPS). XPS offers a high impact resistances and a better strength to weight than regular EPS. It is completely water tight and provides an excellent bond to the laminate. Aver-age Density 48kg/m³

A four axis weave of fiberglass that is extremely strong and light resulting in a very lively feel and response.

A simplified weave ensuring durability with a loose feel.

A pre-laminated fiberglass that’s pre-tensioned and cured under pressure. We apply this to the board in strategic locations to increase strength with a minimal increase to the weight. It’s the strongest fiberglass available! Hands-down!

A light-weight and tough material. Its’ UV and Scratch resistance properties’ makes it perfect for Kite Board production.

The ABS sidewall is laminated to the core during the Lay-Up process. It’s designed to increase the strength while ensuring a smooth, durable and consistent ride.

All our cores are produced with CNC milling. This means that every core is true to our design. Flex, pro-file and manufacturing consistency are all exact, every time.

A symmetric pattern provides an identical flex, forward or switch, ideal for all types of riding conditions.

Surfboards flex under load. This flex provides spring out of the turn and offers control. Our cores and lay-ups are developed specifically for kitesurfing.

Based on the industry standard 6 inch (15.24cm) pat-tern. Our Stainless steel inserts are custom made to eliminate pull out and spinning. Our inserts are all ¼-20 thread and sized to properly fit the core profiles. They are inserted from the bottom of the core, glued and are in for good.

Each board has its own unique layup. We have tested many different configurations of the laminate to pro-duce the best combination of strength and weight. The Cores are profiled to dial in the specific flex for a de-sign. Then the laminate is applied to support the flex and increase strength.

The Stance options provided are design specific based on the rider size and style. The Prodigy and the larger two sizes of the Imperial have a 14/17 inch option for all around freeride performance. The Smaller Impe-rial stance of 13/15 fits the smaller targer rider. The Custom features a 16/18 footstrap stance with a 20” binding stance for the wakestyle rider.

dESCRIPTION FEATURESKitesurfing has come full circle back to its surfing roots with the introduction of the S-Quad. Years of design experience has gone into making the perfect kite surf-board. The S-Quad has all of the design elements of a true surfboard with the construction to match the kind of abuse the surf will likely dish out.

Designed by Pete Cabrinha, the S-Quad blends his fast tow-surfing rockers with a wider curvier outline to de-liver a board that powers off the bottom and snaps in the hook. The 4 fins allow the rail to hold when you need it and let it bust loose on demand.

The S-Quad is constructed with an X-48 EPS core and a composite skin. The x-48 construction has been cus-tom developed to the Cabrinha S-quad. The XPS core is machined to offer the optimal shape. A full wood laminate under the feet provides strength and impact resistance. We use a multi weight glass lay-up to pro-vide the best combination of strength and weight.

When ridden with the new Revolver HD surf kite, its as close as you’ll get to the real thing. If you want just one board to handle a wide range of surf conditions the S-Quad is your board.

Cabrinha wake fins are precision foiled for high speed and control. Our thin foils have been proven to give you the right amount of bite without excess drag. Fins are constructed of fiberglass plate for added durability and a solid grip on the mounting screw threads. Fits all Cabrinha boards. All sizes of fins come in a pack of 4 fins with 8 screws.

The strap has been totally redesigned for the new model. Fit, function, styling, and ease of mounting have all been ad-dressed. Traditional footstraps lose their fit as the strap gets bigger or smaller. By adding two side adjustment the strap stay centered on your foot. The internally molded Side Curtain EVA eliminates any contact with the adjustment webbing no matter how large you make the strap. When the strap is in its small-est the there is no added bulk. The outboard tongue can be removed to allow easy mounting of the strap. This feature also allows the strap to be left on the board for traveling.

The new generation foot pads have been redesigned with per-formance, light weight, and ease of use. The new molded EVA mid section reduces weight. As well the plate has been canted to give better ergonomics. A new outline provides a solid foot position and integrates the cut EVA grip area. The Internal plastic is pre-curved and has the weight greatly reduced.

If you are looking for the most comfortable surfing footstrap on the planet look no further than the Cabrinha surfstrap (WBD). The Cabrinha surfstrap has mirrored the evolution of the surf-ing trend to meet the needs of the hard core surfer. The asym-metrical outline is perfect for riding goofyfooted or regular on the same board. Developed on the North Shore of Maui, this strap is also perferct for tow-surfing.

Cabrinha has developed a set of surf fins to harness the power of the S-quad surf board. The 4 fins allow the rail to hold when you need it and let it bust loose on demand. Two 4” inch lead fins and two 3.25” inch rear fins round out the back. Fins come in a pack of 4 with 8 screws.
