Quality of education remains high on the city’s list of priorities. The Cabot School District is the seventh largest in the state and is widely recognized as one of the best districts per student capita in the state and nation. We are proud of our school district and continuously work together in partnership to maintain the standard of excellence for which they are known. Cabot is close to a number of higher education and technical training facilities in the central Arkansas area.

The geographic location provides an easy commute to downtown Little Rock via several major roadway systems, the surrounding metro area, and the Little Rock Air Force Base, providing the perfect environment for raising a family and enjoying a hometown way of life. We are proud supporters of the Little Rock Air Force Base; and, a large majority of military members and their families choose to call Cabot home.

With a population of over 26,000 and a surrounding primary and secondary trade area of over 110,000, it makes an excellent location for those interested in starting or relocating a business. We constantly strive to provide higher quality of life for our residents. Our location offers easy access to many popular lakes, rivers, and woodlands for excellent family swimming, water sports, and outdoor activities and also provides some of the best fishing, deer, and duck hunting in the state, which is known as a sportsman’s paradise. Our community is home to churches of many faiths and all would welcome your attendance. Cabot has two major festivals annually as well as Fourth of July and Christmas Celebrations and decorations.

progressive and responsive government and involved citizens are just a few of the things that touch on the heart of Cabot.

There’s tons of shopping, too, with new stores and new restaurants opening just about every month.

Two outstanding golf courses are located in Cabot – the Cypress Creek Golf Course and Rolling Hills Country Club offer a level of play to fit every game.

Fishing and hunting abound in the area. Just an hour away you can find Greer’s Ferry Lake and the Little Red River offering the finest fishing in the state.

And being just twenty minutes away from the state capital in Little Rock brings many other opportunities – like the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, the Arkansas Repertory Theater, Arkansas Arts Center and the William Jefferson Clinton Presidential Library.

EducationA t Cabot Public Schools, “It’s about KIDS.” The district is dedicated to

“Preparing Today’s Students for Tomorrow’s Opportunities.” We strive to educate all students to be responsible citizens who value learning, treat others with dignity and respect, and adapt successfully to the demands of the rapidly changing society. Cabot Public Schools is the seventh largest district in the state and encompasses much of northwest Lonoke County. It includes the cities of Cabot, Austin, and Ward. The district creates opportunities for academic and personal success to ensure all students are ready for the future. With exceptional test scores and first class faculty, it’s easy to see why so many new families, especially military families, join our district each year.

Currently, 10,320 students are enrolled in grades K-12 and 327

students are served in the district’s pre-kindergarten program. The district is comprised of nine elementary schools (K-4), two nationally recognized

Diamond Middle Schools (5-6), two junior high schools (7-8), a freshman academy (9), and a high school (10-12). The Cabot School District is also home to the Academic Center of Excellence (ACE). ACE/ACE-North, our award-winning charter schools, offer a unique blended learning environment and flexible schedules for students in grades 7-12.

The district is the largest employer in Lonoke County with approximately 1,449 staffed employees with 794 being certified staff. From the certified staff,

51% hold advanced degrees and 90 are National Board Certified. Our elementary faculty is dedicated to providing a safe, caring, and

positive environment as we prepare students to become lifelong learners and responsible productive citizens. At the secondary level, we work hard to make a difference in every child’s life ensuring their success today, tomorrow, and in the future.

Cabot Freshman Academy is now in its fourth successful year. Approximately 800 ninth graders call the freshman academy home and students continue to thrive with the implementation of the Commitment To Graduate program. C2G benefits students academically and allows a 40 minute daily block for students to receive extra help and instruction. Students that have met their academic goal for the week qualify for academic incentives and can participate in personal learning/incentive areas (gym, cafeteria, and media center) during C2G time. Cabot Freshman Academy is focused on helping students find current and future success. This attention to student progress has resulted in 99% of students earning their credits for the last three years!

At Cabot High School, “Graduation Happens Here!” Cabot High School is a 10th-12th grade high school with more than 2,000 students on a 45 acre campus. Faculty and staff are committed to providing a safe environment that promotes academic excellence and prepares students to become knowledgeable and contributing citizens in our society and in the world - every day, and in every classroom.

Cabot High School has over 300,000 square feet dedicated to student learning which includes: 130 classrooms, 12 science labs, and a vast array of Career and Technical programs. Our CTE programs include, agriculture, auto technology, AFJROTC, broadcasting, business, construction, criminal justice, Environmental and Spatial Technology (EAST), engineering,


Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS), Jobs for Americas Graduates (JAG), and a medical academy. There are over 80 courses that help prepare students for their future career.

High school students also have the option to choose from more than 160 electives, including our award-winning forensics, debate, theater, dance, stagecraft, choir, and marching band. In fact, Cabot’s Fine Arts program is recognized as an exemplary comprehensive program in the state.

The district also offers a unique opportunity for students to join the AP Academy, which provides a relevant and challenging educational experience, emphasizing critical and creative problem solving, effective communication, and community service. In 2016, over 350 students graduated having received credit from Advanced Placement courses and concurrent credit college courses at the high school level. Students are offered over 160 hours of college credit opportunities on our high school campus. Furthermore, over the last three years, Cabot High School has produced 33 National Merit Semifinalists and every year, seniors receive millions of dollars in scholarships.

Students also participate in a dynamic athletic program for both male and female students. Cabot athletes compete in the 7A Central Conference, the largest conference in the state. Cabot has 81 teams in fifteen competitive fields of sport. Football, basketball, baseball, track, golf, soccer, swimming, bowling, and wrestling are just some of the athletic opportunities available to students. The Cabot School District employs four highly experienced athletic trainers. The Sports Medicine Program is nationally-recognized and athletic trainers mentor other districts in implementing this curriculum in schools across the state.

In 2017, the Cabot Athletic Department debuted a new free app to all Cabot Panther fans. The Cabot Panthers Athletics App offers a collegiate style sports app that provides our fans with schedules, final score alerts, news, rosters, social media, live broadcasting & videos.

Cabot School District’s Technology Department prides itself on being current with emerging technologies. With up-to-date devices and wireless across the district, the technology department provides cutting-edge technology to our students and staff as well as services and support of the highest quality.

There currently are 11,450 Chromebooks in the district. Third through 12th grade classrooms have access to a Chromebook cart for student use. From interactive televisions to wireless access, the Cabot School District strives to be one of the most technologically advanced districts in Arkansas.

The district is always seeking ways to improve communication with parents. Our Cabot Public Schools App is proving successful with more than 11,500 downloads from students, parents, and patrons. The app is an excellent communication tool and features school news, a calendar of upcoming school events, and access to school directory information and social media outlets (@cabotsd for Twitter and Cabot Public School District for Facebook). Parents have the ability to check grades and attendance and view students’ class assignments. Parents can also receive a notification to let them know when their child’s grade or cafeteria balance has dropped below a certain threshold. Parents are notified of school closings, events, meetings, etc., through an automated phone system, email, text, social media, app notification and the district website. This app is free and can be downloaded on an iPhone or Android device.

HIGHER EDUCATION

The campus of Arkansas State University – Beebe is located a quick 15 minute drive north of the city of Cabot. The college has been preparing students for successful college careers or the workforce for 80 plus years. The college offers a plethora of options for those students wanting to pursue an associate’s degree or technical certificate, transfer to a four-year university or enter the workforce.

Webster University has a campus located at the nearby Little Rock Air Force Base. The University offers its students a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate programs. The University can accommodate every student’s educational needs. For additional information, give them a call at 501-988-5331.

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock, the University of Arkansas School for Medical Sciences and the University of Arkansas Law School are all located in Little Rock - a 20 minute drive south of Cabot.

F rom general practice physicians, from general dentistry, pediatrics and orthodontia to vision care, the Cabot

area has a great number of choices for accessible and quality medical care. Medical Clinics - including urgent-care clinics - offer many kinds of services, including well-baby checkups, routine and complex examinations, drug screening and laboratory testing and x-ray capabilities.

Quality hospital care is within easy reach of Cabot as well. Unity Health, formerly White County Medical Center in Searcy, offers a wide range of healthcare services to the region, including 24-hour emergency care. The hospital is a Level III Trauma Center as part of the statewide trauma system, as well as a member facility of the UAMS-based AR SAVES (Stroke Assistance through Virtual Emergency Support) program, which provides immediate care for stroke victims.

Unity Health provides services for patients including: an accredited Sleep Center, a Top 500 Home Health Agency, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitative services, critical care services, behavioral health programs for all ages suffering from mental illnesses, a diabetes education program certified by the American Diabetes Association, inpatient Hospice, a sports medicine program and wound care center. Also, Unity Health houses the Advanced Care Hospital of White County, one of the only long-term acute care hospitals in North-Central Arkansas.

In addition to the White County Medical Center and Specialty Care Campuses in Searcy, Unity Health has a hospital campus in Newport; Unity Health – Harris Medical Center and clinics in Beebe, Bradford and Heber Springs. Locations include multiple physician clinics, urgent care clinics, a behavioral health clinic, an orthopaedic and spine center, cancer center and a cardiology clinic.

Unity Health is proud to be called a teaching hospital with graduate medical education programs in family medicine, internal medicine and psychiatry.

Unity Health collaborates with the Mayo Clinic and is first hospital in Arkansas to be accepted into the Mayo Clinic Network. This means that Unity Health can consult with Mayo Clinic experts when appropriate with no additional cost to the patient. There are multiple other benefits to the physician and the patient through this relationship.

North Metro Medical Center in nearby Jacksonville, is a 118-bed, 24-hour acute care facility offering a complete range of inpatient and outpatient services.

Other nearby advanced medical facilities which include a range of in and outpatient services are Baptist Health Medical Center (North Little Rock and Little Rock), St. Vincent Medical Center at Sherwood and the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences (UAMS) which is one of the state’s largest public employers with over 9,000 employees.

Another excellent health and medical organization located nearby is Arkansas Children’s Hospital, located in Little Rock. The Hospital is the only pediatric medical center in Arkansas and is one of the largest hospitals in the United States. It is home to Arkansas’ only Burn Center.

Few cities in the state have so much to offer in the way of easily accessible, quality medical care as can be found in Cabot and the surrounding area.

The city of Cabot enjoys a wonderful partnership with Little Rock Air Force Base. The base opened in 1955 and this

partnership with the men and women who serve and work at the base has grown stronger every year.

Located just eight miles north, Cabot’s appeal to the men and women stationed at the base include the city’s numerous established neighborhoods, hometown atmosphere and the award-winning Cabot School District, one of Arkansas’ highest ranked school districts.

The base encompasses 6,100 acres and includes more than 50 aircraft, making it home to significant percentage of the total U. S. Air Force C-130’s. More than 7,000 active-duty, Air National Guard, Reserve and

….a vital partnership.

Little Rock Air Force Base civilian members, and approximately 5,000 family members live and work on

or around the base. An estimated 57,000 retirees live in the region. Little Rock Air Force Base is known as the “Home of the C-130 Combat

Airlift.” The base has five major command relationships with three wings: The 19th Airlift Wing (Air Mobility Command), the 314th Airlift Wing (Air

Education and Training Command), the 189th Airlift Wing (Air National Guard), the 913th Airlift Group (Air Force Reserve Command) and the 29th Weapons Squadron (Air Combat Command).

The base’s local economic impact for fiscal year 2016 totaledapproximately$469million.Additionally,thebaseis the seventh largest employer in Arkansas and indirectly createdabout2,850jobs,withavalueofmorethan$121million.

Over the years, the citizens of Cabot and the Air Force Base have developed a special kinship and all involved are constantly working on ways to make the quality of life here the best available.

A Note from the President

I hope to be one of the first to welcome you to Cabot, Arkansas! Cabot boasts beautiful housing communities, strong businesses, friendly smiles,

and an amazing education system. Cabot is small town charm at its best, accompanied by great opportunities.

About 10 years ago, my family and I moved to Cabot for my husband’s job at the Little Rock AFB. When we were looking for a place to live, Cabot was the obvious choice. Looking back, there were several things that struck me about Cabot as I explored the town. The first thing I noticed was the sprawling high school campus in the middle of town. It was a pleasure to learn that Cabot Public Schools has one of the best school systems in the state. I now have such pride and faith in our local schools as both my kids have since began attending school here. Another thing I noticed, were the local owned ‘Ma and Pa” businesses around town. I was happy to find how kind and inviting each business felt. Cabot definitely offers a tight-knit feel where you can be treated like family, without compromising professionalism. Throughout the first year of living in Cabot, I came to love how the local businesses and community members pulled together. They support local festivals, youth academics and sports, and work together to ensure local families are taken care of during times of need. My family and I have personally experienced the way the community welcomes military families with their continued support. There is certainly a spirit of community in Cabot.

Its location on US Highway 67/167, a four-lane divided interstate-quality highway, provides easy access from both north and south. City and County Taxes Property Tax: The state of Arkansas does not have a property tax. However, Arkansas cities and counties do collect a property tax, which is the principal source of revenue used to fund the states’ public school districts. The tax is calculated based on 20% of the fair market value of real and personal property and the average annual value of merchants stocks and/or manufacturers inventories. The millage rate established by individual school districts is used to compute the amount of the tax.

Cabot WaterWorks has secured adequate water supply through most of the twenty first century. Cabot recently completed construction of a 9 MGD pipeline to Central Arkansas Water. We have additional long term capacity planned from Greers Ferry and DeGray lakes. Our current ground water well fields will be retained for a long term emergency backup supply. Cabot WaterWorks has a new state-of-the-art wastewater treatment facility with capacity well into the twenty first century. Cabot WaterWorks maintains strategic water and wastewater master plans to accommodate immediate and long term growth.
