CHILDREN'S MOBILITY STAMP COLLECTION It is astounding how much money can be raised

from things we throw away!

The Australian Lions Stamp Club presented a cheque for $4,600 to the Australian Lions Children's Mobility Foundation at the Canberra Convention [2013] and at the Convention in Tamworth [2014] we received another cheque for$7,000 and Newcastle [2015] saw us receiving a cheque for $9,200, now in 2016 in Echuca a new and incredible record $13,500! Our 100 year celebration in Hobart included another special celebration for the Foundation. We were honoured to receive yet another record amount of $15,500. Our wonderful journey with the Stamp Club with saw presentation in Townsville of a cheque in the amount of $25,500. What an amazing achievement !!

This stamp collecting project is something we could all contribute to, with little effort and no expense. It is for this reason that we are asking all Lions in Australia to collect used stamps, by placing a container in your home, and perhaps an office or business that you have contact with. Someone may even have an old stamp collection from their earlier days that they are willing to donate.

The stamps need to be cut around approx. 3mm. from the edge as the stamp fringe must not be damaged.

The Australian Lions Stamp Club places these into 1kg bundles and they are then sold at Stamp Auctions.

Please support this simple request and help Children's Mobility. We look forward to being inundated with stamps appropriately trimmed

AUSTRALIAN ONLINE & TRAVELLERS LIONS CLUB

CHARTER DATE: JANUARY 3RD, 2018

We provide a unique “Service” Club membership and our primary focus is to retain existing Lions whose Lions Clubs may have closed and would still like to remain Lions.

Our Lions Club goals are in keeping with the humanitarian, community spirited, fun and service mindedness of Lions.

Our members are dedicated to assisting other Lions Clubs in helping to make their communities a better place to live, work and grow.

We currently have members from Western Australia, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales and New Zealand.

Youth of The Year National Final Townsville May 2018 I had the pleasure of attending the recent multiple district convention in Townsville.

Part of that was the Youth of the Year national final. Our state was represented by Henry Pemberton from Christ Church Grammar, sponsored through our district by Floreat Lions club.

From the Blazer presentation on Friday evening, through to the final of the public speaking on Monday, all the six students, representing South Australia, New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia, impressed all who met them.

The national final was a victory for Tasmania, with the overall winner being Tom Rockliff. The public speaking winner was Lucy Witherdin from New South Wales.

Another great contest and another wonderful group of students who will lead the next generation, Congratulations all who took part and all those who were part of organising this years programme.

Correspondence to PO Box 182, APPLECROSS, WA, 6953

CALLING FOR 2018 NOMINATIONS Clubs in both Districts have recently received, via their Cabinet Secretary, a request to consider nominating someone worthy from their Club or another Lions Club.

To be eligible, the person must be a current Lion in your Club or a member of another Lions Club anywhere in Western Australia. Deceased Lions are also eligible, providing they were members at the time of their death. We are looking for Lions who have made a significant contribution to the community through Lions Clubs International over a number of years.

A nomination fee of $115.00, used to offset the costs of Certificates and meals for the new Nominees, should be included with the Nomination Form and sent to PO Box 182, APPLECROSS, WA, 6953. Direct credits may be made to District 201W2 Administration Account, COMMONWEALTH BANK BSB 066-165, ACCOUNT NUMBER 10024497. PLEASE SHOW CLUB NAME AS A REFERENCE.

In keeping with the significance and prestige of this award, only up to 3 people will be inducted this year.

http://201w1.lions.org.au or http://201w2.lions.org.au and select WA Lions Hall of Fame. The form is printable and once completed can be attached to an email to [email protected]

NORANDA LIONS CLUB Sunday June the 17th Noranda Lions were on duty at the Morley Galleria Flea Markets. Four clubs operate the markets in rotation. The other three are Morley, Bassendean and Ballajura Lions Clubs.

The clubs charge $10 a parking bay and also put out bins at various points to collect donations from the public visiting the markets.

On a good day, particularly if it is raining we can collect over $1700. Our markets are under cover which is a huge bonus in winter. We run the markets every Sunday throughout the year, except for December with the money collected shared between the four clubs.

NEW VOICES Objective

The New Voices Initiative celebrates the contributions made by women as Lions Clubs International welcomes its first female International President. This initiative promotes gender parity by focusing on increasing the number of women in Lions clubs, as well as closing the gap between men and women in leadership positions.

Program

New Voices will feature Lions who demonstrate exceptional influence of women in one of four areas: Service, Membership, Leadership, and Marketing.

New Voices will be discovered through two channels: District Governor nominations and our new digital platform. Utilizing both traditional and modern methods to recognize outstanding Lions in the areas mentioned will increase reach/ allowing New Voices to share their stories and best practices locally as well as globally.

GLOBAL ACTION TEAM Empowering Clubs through the Power of Action

The Global Action Team was built with a vision that one day every need in the world will be served by a Lion or Leo. It brings together the three key areas of Lions:

Leadership development

Membership

Service By unifying the Global Leadership Team (GIT), Global Membership Team (GMT) and Global Service Team (GST) as the Global Action Team, we will create synergy and new opportunities for clubs to grow and serve.

Our Mission — The Global Action Team will champion the vision of LCI & LCIF and build on the passion of our Lions and Leos through service.

Our Goal — To impact over 200 million lives through service, increase our membership to I .7 million Lions and Leos, and provide learning opportunities to over 500,000 members by the year 2020.
