A. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Hormonal disorder that causes multiple enlarged cysts throughout the ovaries. Can cause result in infertility.
B. Cushing’s Syndrome Excess cortisol production produces fatty deposits, rounded face, extensive stretch marks, bone loss, high blood pressure, and diabetes.
C. Acromegaly AKA gigantism, long term condition that causes an abnormal production of growth hormone. Results in constant increase of muscle, bone and other tissues over time.
D. Diabetes Excess levels of glucose in the blood due to a lack of insulin production or insulin resistance. Insulin and glucagon are produced by the pancreas.
E. Goiter Abnormal swelling of the thyroid gland is caused by iodine deficiency and is associated with hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism.
F. Klinefelter’s Syndrome A genetic abnormality that results in three sex chromosomes (XXY). All individuals with Klinefelter’s are male, but suffer from hypogonadism and reduced fertility.
