1. HISTORICAL
Cement f ile: Rouchaid El-Khazen Establishment for
Contracting “Elka”
The pioneer to develop the ready mixed cement
industry
The contracting sector constitutes the main activity of
Rouchaid El Khazen Establishment for contracting. It was
among the first establishments to accompany the
development of the ready mixed cement industry. As of
1983, the establishment started to adopt this material as a
fundamental pillar in the execution of its projects, since the
work was previously performed by traditional methods
through manual mixers with l imited movement capacity.
This technology constituted a qualitative step for Rouchaid
El Khazen Est. and became a requisite necessity
particularly after the r ise of the construct ion s ites in
Lebanon and the increase demand by private and public
project owners to adopt the mixed cement in their projects
due to the high imposed specifications in the condition
booklets which are difficult to ensure through traditional
techniques.
The main positive elements in adopting this technology
are based on:
• Fast execution

• Assurance of h igh qua li ty and requested
specifications to ensure the constructions security.
• Limitation of the areas allocated within the
projects for the mixing operations through traditional
methods.
• Preservation of the environment and public
security.
It is worthy to mention that the actual head office of the
establishment (ready mixed section) is in Jeita. It provides
a product ion of over 100 m3 per hour in addit ion to a
subsidiary center in the region of Hrajel with a production
over than 50 m3 per hour.
Moreover, Rouchaid El Khazen Est. is in the process of
expanding i ts act iv it ies to sat isfy the Lebanese marketrequirements and to establish a new basic center in the
region of ZoukMosbeh ( industrial zone – Adonis) with a
production capacity of overt than 200 m3 per hour.
