This is a partnership between Manchester City Council, MADLAB and Manchester’s various digital communities. On the GROUND FLOOR you’ll find a range of Digital Experts and Advisors who are happy to speak to you about your own organisation’s needs, to signpost you to where you might get further help, or to let you know about the various services and user groups that they represent. Format of the Day You should aim to spend no more than 15-20 minutes with a particular individual or group, in order that they have opportunity to speak to other people and that you get to advise a number of attendees. Founder Chi-chi helps to organise the free Social Media Surgery events at MMU www.realfresh.tv Guy Lancaster, MMU Web Angels. This project is one of Manchester Metropolitan University’s community engagement projects, providing a web presence to up to 20 community groups in Greater manchester and North Cheshire, particularly Crewe, Hulme and East Manchester. We provide a friendly and relaxed environment in which girls and women who are interested in science, engineering and technology can get an insight into different aspects of technology - outside of courses and classrooms. The free workshops run monthly and have topics like "build your own computer", "robots & arts" and "introduction to web development" - and there's always time for tea, cake and chats! http://www.manchestergirlgeekdinners.co.uk

Steven Flower, Netsquared & Substance Coop Steven currently spends his days at Substance, an action research cooperative, as the Technology Enabler. Steven has spent the past 15 years working in and around non-profit causes and technology, starting with hardware, and now focussing on data. Steven is currently working on a project called Plings - which aims to aggregate and release data on positive activities for teenagers in England. Steven also organises the Manchester Net Tuesday group, which provide a useful forum for voluntary organisations to learn about technology and share skills and experiences.

Adrian Slatcher & Alan Holding, MDDA MDDA are part of Manchester City Council and deliver the digital strategy for the city-region. We run a series of programmes, such as this one, providing support about digital and web technologies. Adrian is coordinating today, and will be on hand to direct you to the various advisors attending. Alan Holding is head of MDDA’s technical team and experienced web developer and advisor on new technology, who has helped many voluntary organisations. Before joining Virtual Surveys he ran a startup building online experiments for psychological research. Whilst at Virtual Surveys he has run online research projects for variety of international clients. In particular he has pioneered the use of online communities as a way for companies to communicate with people.
