Dear Resident CITYLINK TULLA WIDENING: UPCOMING CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES The CityLink Tulla Widening project involves adding lanes and other measures to improve the flow of traffic across the 24 kilometre section of freeway from the CityLink tunnels to Melbourne Airport. The project will also provide travel time savings per trip between Melbourne Airport and the West Gate Freeway during peak periods. Once completed, the project will deliver a safer, more reliable freeway. Generally, an additional lane is being added in each direction, as well as upgrades at key interchanges including Bell Street, Mount Alexander Road / Flemington Road and on the Bolte Bridge to West Gate Freeway entry ramp. Dear Resident

CITYLINK TULLA WIDENING: UPCOMING CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES

The CityLink Tulla Widening project involves adding lanes and other measures to improve the flow of traffic across the 24 kilometre section of freeway from the CityLink tunnels to Melbourne Airport.

Leighton Contractors is the construction contractor for the Bulla Road to Power Street section of the project. We would like to advise you of what to expect over the coming months.

Where we will beAs part of the works to widen the CityLink freeway, we also need to widen the bridge that passes over Pascoe Vale Road. We will be working in and around the area marked below.

When works will occurWork hours for construction are 7am to 6pm Monday to Saturday. On occasions we may need to work outside of these times to ensure public and worker safety. We will notify you of any works outside of these hours that may impact you.

We will be working in the area until early 2017 when the bridge widening works will be complete. We will continue to give you advanced notice of works that may impact you.

Pascoe Vale Road

What we are doingOn CityLink, we have installed concrete safety barriers to create safe work areas for our crew, changed line marking and reduced the speed limit on the freeway. In some areas we have been trimming and clearing vegetation including trees to prepare the site for works.

For the widening of the bridge over Pascoe Vale Road, we will be:• Preparing work sites and creating temporary access which will include activities such as:

• Trimming and clearing vegetation including trees• Embankment stabilisation works

• Removing the existing noise wall and installing a temporary wall• Undertaking utility works such as investigation, relocation/protection and installation of temporary services• Upgrading drainage services • Removing existing concrete barriers on CityLink that are no longer required• Upgrading protection measures on existing piers and overhead signage structures

What to expectOver the coming months you can expect:• Changed traffic conditions such as lane closures on Pascoe Vale Road• Works impacting the western footpath near the bridge over Pascoe Vale Road. Pedestrians will be

directed safely past construction works• Small crews working in the area• Construction works to widen the bridge over Pascoe Vale Road. This will include some noisy activities

during the day such as piling works to install bridge piers• Relocation of the power and light pole near the bridge (affected residents will be advised in advance by

Jemena of any service disruptions)• Night works in early 2016 required to relocate sewer pipes (affected residents will receive a separate

notification letter in advance of these works)• Construction works on CityLink including some noisy works to remove existing barriers on CityLink if

demolition is required• Some workers using on-street parking in local streets

We are committed to keeping residents informed and minimising the inconvenience during construction, while keeping the community and our workers safe at all times. Managing and protecting the environment is also important to us and we are working in conjunction with local and state environmental laws to ensure the natural ecosystem is not affected by works.
