CORPUS CHRISTI COMMUNITY
You are cordially invited
to the new Commons dedication on
September 9th at the 10:00 am liturgy.
There will be a reception following the
liturgy in the new Commons.
Please RSVP after church this
weekend in the narthex
if you can attend.
The Sealed as the Body of Christ capital campaign helped
to renovate our1st floor and Holy Family Hall, and now we
have completed our new Commons building.
The Commons building will have an exterior mosaic that
depicts the Resurrection. The mosaic will be prominently
visible from George Williams Way and will face the
church building.
Symbolism: The Resurrected Christ stands in triumph - one
hand held in triumph, the other hand holds a standard with the
Banner of Victory. The Palm Branch represents Christ’s
triumphal entry into Jerusalem and symbolizes victory over
death and the Resurrection.
The artists from Emil Frei have been on campus grounds as they
complete their work on the mosaic to the outside of the
Commons.
In addition to the mosaic on the outside of the building, four
stained glass windows will eventually separate the Commons
from the court yard space. These are depicted to the left and
were inspired both by the wheat in the sanctuary of the church
and the community’s name: Corpus Christi The Body of Christ.
The 1st of these windows has been commissioned and donated
in honor of Frank and Barbara Becker. You will be able to see
the new window at the dedication next week.

On Saturday, October 6th, Corpus will host a whole day of fun! Starting at 1pm there will be a beer
garden open along with dogs, brats, and other delicious food. Entry into this area will be $10 for
food and $20 for food and drink and can be purchased on site. We will have several teams who
will be smoking meats all day: ribs, brisket, pork and chicken. You will be able to sample some of
these delicious morsels and vote on your favorite. The “People’s Champ” award will be given out to
the team with the most votes and a Corpus Burgers, Bucks & Que champion will be crowned that
night. Also out in the beer garden and barbeque area, there will be a car show from 1 to 4pm
featuring some beautiful classic cars! We will have a dinner of burgers for the kids, lots of smoked delicacies
amazing sides and a whole dessert bar waiting for you after the 4:00 pm liturgy! There will be beer, wine
and soft drinks, oh, and BBQ! That accounts for the BURGERS and the QUE, what about these BUCKS? While
you’re enjoying yourself, we’ll have a reverse raffle where you will have a chance to win $5,000! There’s your
bucks! A reverse raffle means that the numbers will be drawn all night with prizes given along the way, however the LAST
number pulled is the big winner instead of the first. There will be music and great fellowship, so mark the date now. Raffle
tickets are $100 which includes entry into the whole day’s event for two and one ticket into the reverse raffle. Dinner tickets
are $25 for adults, $10 for youth, and $5 for children. Tickets will be available for purchase starting September 9th at:
www.cccparish.org/2018bbq or from any Parish staff or choir member.
Get Your SMOKIN’ Team Together NOW!
Get your buddies together to be part of the QUE competition. This is a non-sanctioned event, but will follow the rules of
barbeque competition and judging. There is no entrance fee, and all of the meat will be provided for you to enter for
judging, and offer tastings to all in attendance. To sign up, or get more information, go to cccparish.org/queteam or email
Shaun at [email protected]. Spots will be assigned by the date that your team registers.
“It is our duty and our joy as shepherds of the Church to guide and oversee liturgical song in each particular Church. Liturgy is the
source of the Church’s prayer and action, and the summit by which our lives and all our ministries ascend to the Father.”
from the Foreword of “Sing to the Lord, Music in Divine Worship”
Adult Choir
Choir has begin their season - we would love to have you join us! We are always looking for more voices to bring song to the
liturgies. If you are willing to share your God given talents to the people of Corpus Christi, and want to have a GREAT TIME
doing it, rehearsals are Wednesday evenings from 7:00-8:30 pm in the church. Please contact Shaun if you are interested in
more information.
Handbell Choir
Maybe singing isn’t your “thing.” Would you still like to contribute to the Music Ministry at Corpus? Sounds like ringing hand
bells is the thing for you!!!! We are looking for more members to join our ensemble. Although no prior ringing experience is
necessary, good musical skills and an ability to read music is required. The choir will rehearse on Wednesday evenings
from 6:00-7:00 pm. If you're interested, just show up!!! If you have questions, contact Shaun.
Youth Choir
Do you have a child who is interested in singing? The Youth Choir sings once a month at weekend liturgies. Any youth currently
in 4th grade or older are invited to attend rehearsals on Thursdays from 3:45-4:45 pm. If your child would be interested in
singing once a month, please contact Shaun.
Lend Your Voice
The ministry of the parish cantor is to bring the song of the assembled community to life! Cantors' primary roles are to
encourage the congregation to sing and to proclaim the Word of God through the Psalms. Cantors must have a pleasant
singing voice, sing on pitch, strong but not overpowering, good sense of rhythm and tempo. We are always looking for more
cantors and if you feel you have the gift of cantoring, we’d love to hear from you!
Instrumentalists
Instrumentalists provide musical accompaniment for the cantors and choir at weekend Masses and special celebrations. While
people of various levels of ability are welcome to share their talents, a certain level of proficiency is necessary. As with
accompanists, there is a wide range of possibilities for brass, stringed and wind instrumentalists to be involved in the Corpus
Christi Music Ministry. There will be required rehearsals for instrumentalists around Christmas, the Triduum, and Easter. If
you’re interested in lending your talents to the Music Ministry here at Corpus, contact Shaun for more information.

Children’s Religious Education. This program combines children’s faith formation and adult faith formation for parents. Parents
and children meet from 6:30-7:45 pm on two Wednesday evenings each month (Sept.-May). It is a great way for parents to
refresh their faith while experiencing presentations on the same topics as their children. This program is for families whose
children attend any of our public/private/home schools, Pre Kn-6th grade. Child care is provided for children 3 and younger.

TechnologyStaying One Step Ahead
Corpus Christi Parish School is blessed to have technology at its fingertips. As a recipient of the Governor’s Award for Excellence,
we challenge ourselves to continue pushing forward by advancing our resources and instruction. Through the generosity of our family
within the parish, school and community, students at Corpus Christi use educational technology in classrooms, which makes learning
fun and interesting. To remain a leader in education, we must stay current with technology and increase our supply. Each classroom
is equipped with up to date interactive boards that are used across the curriculum. Middle school is enjoying new materials used for
the Robotics curriculum that goes along with the STEM program, as well as introductory classes for the elementary classes. This
provides a way for all students, regardless of their academic strengths and weaknesses, to be part of the learning experience as
they approach concepts using multiple intelligences and higher level thinking skills. Technology changes from minute to minute, but
because of the donations of so many that believe in what we do, the Saints can stay one step ahead!
Donuts with Dads
All Dads or special guests are invited to attend mass with their children on Wednesday, September 5
th
at 7:00 a.m. After mass,
enjoy a donut and great conversations in Holy Family Hall. Please join us!
Become A Saint Today! Enrollment Still Open

or budget cuts that may cut programs, call our school office today! There is still time to enroll your child in our award winning parish
school! If you have a child/ren kindergarten age through grade eight (our preschool is full!!), and would like to learn more
information about becoming a Saint, contact the school office now. Corpus Christi is the proud recipient of the 2016 Governor’s
Achievement Award from the Kansas State Board of Education. That, coupled with small class sizes, up to date technology and
robotics, new textbooks, awesome teachers, and a middle school with many elective options, is reason enough to explore your
options. If you would like to learn more about our school please contact the school office. All enrollment information is available
