BOY IN DA CORNER• This CD cover shows dark sport

clothing which can be associated with street clothing. Therefore we can assume that this is some sort of underground black rap music. The guy in the picture is all wearing black and is sitting in a corner. His figure is in black and white picture but the back is all yellow which makes a strong contrast which makes us focus on him. The album is called boy in the corner and through the focus the colour gives him we can say that this shows that the boy in the corner who was quiet and hidden is now having his moment.

JAY-Z THE BLACK ALBUM• This is a very dark cover. It

shows a black man who is hiding his eyes with a hat. It looks very cool and somehow the pose makes me know that this is a rap music cover. It obviously has strong content. This picture also has much to do with the title of the album. It is called the black album and its shows a black man with a black background and everything else is just as dark as possible.

THE MISEDUCATION OF LAURYN HILL

• This album is called the miss education of Lauryn hill. This seems to me like the CD has deep content, probably having political aspects within the songs. The cover shows a school desk and a picture or a drawing of the actual artist. Although the drawing hasn’t got real colour we can tell that it is a black woman that is shown in it. This woman really seems to be a more conscious artist. I believe the content of the CD will have a lot of meaning since she is not an artist that uses her sex appeal to sell records.

PUSSYCAT DOLLS DOLL DOMINATION

• This CD cover must be pop music. It is filled with colour and other typical pop elements such as a heart at the top a star etc. In it there are 5 attractive women who are using all their sex appeal to sell their records. These women appear to be on top of motorbikes, so from this I would assume this part of the cover is what would attract men. (Nice women and big engines).

• The album is called Doll domination. This title does give women a sort of strength in a since and pride. At the back we see different well known places known worldwide such as the coliseum, the Eiffel tower and other which try to focus on this world domination of dolls. These are definitely pop star stereotypes.

MISSY ELLIOTTUNDER CONSTRUCTION

• The first impression that this cover gives me is that it’s very cool. Its obviously black street music, it may even have a old school touch to it. The cover shows a very cool and stylish dressed black woman just chilling in the streets with her radio cassette player. The cover has like some sort of graffiti in it that makes it even cooler. This is a rap artist and therefore she appears to be strong. She doesn’t use her sex appeal in order to sell CD’s.

LUPE FIASCO FOOD & LIQUOR

• This Album cover shows a black music artist. From the way he dresses and other elements such as the cassette player we can identify his type of music as street music, hip hop. He kind of seems to be like some sort of ghost that’s floating in space. The colours round him make it seems as if he were someone wonderful and this is typical of hip hop artist who are always praising themselves and glorifying themselves. The letters of the album seem to be Arabic. This could have to do with the musicians religious believes or origin. We can also see that this CD contains strong language. This CD cover is quite original but still maintains the typical ‘I am the best’ attitude with it.

ONE.. TWICE AS GOOD• This cover does definitely represent

the HIP HOP genre. It is full of cockiness and the artist seems to be quite vain. It is a stylish picture in which it is all about the artist, the artist is in colour while everything else is in black and white. It is typical for this type of music to just focus on the greatness of the artist. This picture just tells us that the artist is full of himself and is a bit of a poser (sunglasses on, trying to look cool). The artist even appears twice which obviously refers to the title: "twice as good". The music behind this cover contains strong language which is known to us by the parental advisory. The colour layout also gives a sort of street sense which also is typical for hip hop music.
