Responsibilities of an International Officer
o Serve as Society Ambassadoro Act as liaison between members and Headquarterso Uphold Honor Codeo Be enrolled in 6 credit hours exclusively at the community college with
minimum 3.25 GPA
o Attend Summer Orientations and Winter Orientation
o Preside at Honors Institute and Annual Convention
o Set goals for Society participation
o Present workshops and Honors Study Topic Speeches at Regional Meetings
o Communicate with Regional and Chapter Officers
o Write Articles for Society Communicationso Remain active in local chaptero One International Officer will serve as the student representative on the

General overview of campaign process
Prior to Convention Candidate must commit to running (preferably before winter break)
Find campaign manager (Also before winter break)
Get support of chapter and college Study Phi Theta Kappa and it’s history Establish up to 20 member campaign team Review international campaign rules with team Define clear goals and deadlines Provide ample time for team to interact with candidate Request, finish and submit Candidate Application Packet Build Campaign Booth Design and print distributable piece Design campaign costume Complete online interview with Rod Risley Prepare Honors Study Topic SpeechMinn-Wi-Kota Region of Phi Theta

General overview of campaign process
During Convention All candidates will:
Arrive a day early for Candidate Orientation Campaign for entire day in Academic Marketplace at
booth with full team If candidate passes Primary Elections:
Campaign at booth with campaign manager for an additional 2 hours
Present Honors Study Topic speech at general session in front of all guests (3,500 – 4,000 people)
If candidate is elected next International Officer Complete immediate installation as International
Officer at closing ceremony
