IntroductionSince 1993, we have been designing and manufacturingoriginal statues, birdbaths, water features, benches,planters etc for home and garden decoration. We startwith a concept which is then interpreted and sculptedinto a ‘master,’ from which we take a mould and thenproduce castings. As our designs are original, we hold thecopyright for most of our products. Our line is sold mainlythrough independent garden centres, nurseries, homedécor stores and gift stores with gardening accents.

Our products are made from proprietary blends of highperforming concrete and have unique weather resistantfinishes applied. They are also sealed with an acrylicsealer. Products can stay outside year round, with theexception of bowls and other items that collect water;these may crack when exposed to the freeze-thaw cycleand should be drained or otherwise protected. Werecommend cleaning with warm soapy water and asponge. A clear acrylic sealer can be reapplied if desiredalthough not essential.

• QR (Quick Response) mobile website. Withthe explosion in the popularity of mobiledevices, we have developed a mobilewebsite that can be reached by scanningthis QR image. A customer can searchproducts by category or by collection andthe images are formatted to be more suited to mobile devices. TheQR image can be found on POS material.

• Retailer referrals. We receive many requests from consumers lookingto buy our products; we refer these people to retailers in their area.

• High/low resolution images are available on request for in-housesignage/promotion material or advertising use.

• Extra catalogues are available on request for retail display. Pricinglabels for the catalogues are available in three pricing formats;wholesale, manufacturer’s suggested retail or custom retail (pleasecontact us for these).

• Barcodes are available by email. Unfortunately we are unable to offerbarcode pricing labels for the products, but the barcodes can be usedfor retailers’ own pricing and inventory systems.

Merchandising guidelines.

Here are a number of merchandising tips that we have found work well:

o Group the Castart Studios line.

o Group by theme.

o Create small vignettes with complementary merchandise.

o Greenery, greenery, greenery! Allows the customer to picture thepiece in their garden.

o Ensure the POS tags are displayed clearly. Use fishing line or pin nails.

o Display on multiple levels. We find construction cinder blocks workwell as supports. Keep the display safe for small children.

o Consider using a fountain or other large piece as a focal point andcontinue the display around this.

o Keep a backup inventory of hot selling items, so the display can bekept intact.

o Keep large pieces (e.g. fountains) displayed and take orders.Repeat orders can then be shipped pre-packed on pallets, savingthe retailer time and keeping the display intact.

o Take photos of a successful display, this helps with re-ordering andfor designing future displays.

o Fountains won’t sell unless they are running and benches won’tsell unless people can sit on them!

o If an item sits for a while without selling, try moving it to a differentlocation.

Green EffortsWe use recycled packing material, boxes (when available) and pallets. Were-use waste water from the staining process; this is incorporated backinto the concrete mix and thus kept out of the environment. Broken piecesare crushed and used as road-base. Paper, plastic, glass and metals gointo the local recycling program. We don’t pretend to be perfect, but wedo what we can to mitigate our impact on the environment.
