PTC MEETING

May 2nd @ 6:30 p.m.

May 1st is School Principal’s Day. Be sure to let Mrs. Yetzer know how much she is appreciated and

how blessed we are to have her as our principal here at Redtail Ridge Elementary!

June 8th, the last student day of school, is a 3 hour early release day. Students will be dismissed @ 12:50 p.m. A bag lunch will be served to students on that day.

Many times parents like to make the last day of school special for their children. Celebrat-

ing the completing of the school year is a terrific idea. We have a few requests as you plan your events. We find it difficult to make sure each child finds his/her way to the

buses in all the excitement. If you are planning an event with a group of students, please arrange to pick up the students at their homes. We request that all students fol-low their normal routine home as usual on this busy day. We want to make sure that children get home safely. Keeping the number of students being picked up by par-ents to a minimum on this day helps us. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Yetzer at 226-8000.

Thank you for your assistance.

The last day for students to check out library books this school year is May 24th. All library books will be due by May 30th. Thank you for your help!

Please join us for the Choir Concert on Thursday, May 11th, 2016 @

7:00 P.M. in the Gym

On Friday, May 26th, fifth graders will be going by bus over to the middle schools for a short tour of the buildings they will be attending in 6th grade. This gives them a chance to walk through, talk to a counselor, and get a tour from current students. Our students will have an op-portunity to ask questions of student tour guides and an adult at the middle school.

Parents of kindergartners are invited to a Kin-dergarten Graduation Ceremony. It will take place in the gym on June 2nd at 2:00 PM.

5th graders and their families are invited to celebrate their graduation on May 26th from 2—3 PM in the Redtail Ridge gymnasium. Flyers with more information will be coming home with your child soon!

Child Nutrition Employee Appreci-ation Week is May 1-5. Please make sure to let them know how much their dedication and hard work mean to us as they prepare and serve the many breakfasts

and lunches here at Redtail Ridge!

The Prior Lake High School National Honors Soci-ety will be hosting a Parent’s Night Out at Prior Lake High School on Friday, May 5th from 6pm to 10pm. Parent’s Night Out is open to children in Kindergarten through 5th Grade. Pre-registered, your first child’s care will cost $20 and each addi-tional child’s care will cost $15. Pre-registration is due to your child’s school by Monday, May 1st. If you miss the pre-registration date, you can sign up at the door. The price will be increased to $25 for the first child and $20 for each additional child. Activities include crafts and games and healthy snacks will be provided. Please return the registra-tion form and fee to your classroom teacher no later than May 1st. Checks payable to “Prior Lake National Honor Society”.

We will be offering the prepackaged school supplies for the 2017-18 school year through School Tool Box. Online ordering will begin in mid-May and your packages will be delivered right to your home. Look for informational fly-ers coming home with your students soon!

We are already in the beginning process of making plans for the 2017-18 school year. It is possible that you may foresee a change in family status or day care provider for the next school year. If this is the case, and you wish to request that your child attend school in another building instead of Redtail Ridge, you may request an in-district transfer. Forms for in-district transfers can be found on the dis-trict website. Requests received from families during the summer months will not be acted on until August.

If you have a child who will be 5 on or before September 1, 2017, and have not registered for Kindergarten, please contact the Edgewood office at 952-226-0900.

If your student has not had a preschool screening, please contact ECFE at 952-226-0975.

school students. We recommend leaving rescue medication (Epi-Pens etc) at

school until dismissal of the last day. Please pick up all medications no

later than June 8th (by dismissal time at 12:50). Please call your schools

Health Office if you wish to make other arrangements.

May 10th is National School Nurse Day!.

Teachers recommend students based on learning needs in the area of reading, math and writing. Students entering grades 1-6 will be invited to attend summer school at Redtail Ridge Ele-mentary. Summer school will be Monday-Thursday, 8:30-11:30 AM. If you have questions about this program, please contact your child's teacher.

Support Redtail Ridge this summer via MVEC's "Beat the Peak" Challenge! MVEC electric customers are invited to "Beat the Peak" this summer, voluntarily reducing their electricity usage between 5 and 9 PM on a few of the hottest days of the summer when notified by text, phone, or email. Sign up online at http://www.mvec.net/community/challenge/ and be sure to select Redtail Ridge Elementary as the team you wish to support. Your energy-saving efforts will not only benefit the environment but could also help our school win up to $7,500 in prize money. Every family that signs up by May 21st will be entered into MVEC's drawing for one of two $500 VISA gift cards. Plus, individual cash prizes of $100 are award-ed each month to the families who reduce their power consumption the most on "Beat the Peak" days.
