What is Leukemia?

Leukemia is a cancer when your bone marrow produces abnormal blood cells. Normal blood cells die after a certain amount of time. When they die new ones grow and take their place. A person with leukemia has blood cells that don’t die. This can crowd blood cells and not allow the normal blood cells to do their job.

Physical exams (Doctors check for bumps on your body)

Treatment

• Induction therapy(When doctors reduce the amount of cancer cells in your body to make the cancer vulnerable)

• Chemotherapy (Medication prescribed for you mainly to treat cancer)

• Monoclonal antibody therapy (Monoclonal antibodies are put in you body to target and destroy bad cells.)

• Bone marrow transplant• Stem cell transplant

Results

Most people only live 5 years after being diagnosed if not cured. People who destroy the cancer after treatment do have a chance of it returning. If the cancer doesn't come back you will feel normal.
