Transcript of By the end of this session you will: Know more about the thinking behind the IPC Know how an IPC is...
By the end of this session you will:
• Know more about the thinking behind the IPC
• Know how an IPC is structured
• Have the chance to ask any questions you want about why we have chosen IPC
How IPC started?• 3 years of piloting and research began in
1998
• In collaboration with University of Bath
• Built on solid principles
• Great Learning– Great Teaching- Great Fun
Where it is now?
Over 1754 schools, 92 countries, International Schools, UK State Schools and Independent Schools, State Schools in Europe, Special Education, ESL / EAL Schools, British Schools of America, International Charter School AND Shell Schools
IPC guiding questions
• What kind of world will our children live and work in?
• What kinds of children are likely to succeed in the world?
• What kinds of learning will our children need and how should they learn it?
We don’t know WHAT children may need to know by the time they leave school in this ever changing world. We don’t know WHERE in the world they might find work and life. However, if we teach them to have the skills and attributes to deal with whatever challenges the world presents them with, then we have succeeded in producing capable citizens. While the IPC of course teaches knowledge, it has an equal focus on skills and understanding – and on personal qualities.

What Schools Are Saying about International Primary
Curriculum?
“Pupils' learning and enjoyment are supported by the exciting, internationally-themed curriculum that the school provides. Leaders are already planning how the many strengths in this provision can be sustained when a new National Curriculum is introduced next year.”
OFTSED Report 2013Moseley C of E Primary School, Birmingham

“The curriculum is outstanding. The learning experiences it provides are matched exceptionally well to pupils' abilities and needs. Topics taught across a range of subjects, such as learning about volcanoes, arouse great enthusiasm among pupils. The organisation of the curriculum enables teachers to build very effectively on pupils' previous learning.”

“The IPC enables us to teach subjects in context, so that children can see the purpose of what they're learning. It's constantly making links between subject learning and for us that's been one of the successes”
Vivian Onwubalili, Headteacher, Stepney Green Coat Primary School, Tower Hamlets, London

What Schools Are Saying about International Primary
Curriculum?
“The IPC is worth every penny for what it's doing is making every child want to learn more. Its cross-curricular approach means that subjects are embedded within each unit. No longer are we stopping one lesson to move onto another that's completely unrelated. Now it's all about building on a theme and, as a result, the children become completely engaged”
Caroline Quinn, Headteacher, All Souls Catholic Primary, Coventry

Ourselves:
Who an I?

Society, Art, Physical Education, Science, Geography, International
Science: Water World
Water is important to all living livings – without water there would be no life on Earth. We use water every day. We depend on water to stay clean and healthy, just like the many plants and animals we share our world with. Not everyone in the world has clean, fresh water – but we can help to change that, because water is for everyone.

Running a business involves many skills – creativity, leadership, team work, communication, budgeting, planning, design, customer-awareness and so on. If we want to become the successful entrepreneurs of the future, then it is important that we understand the thought and hard work that goes into planning and setting up a business – and turning our ideas into a reality.
