Reproduction of Alligators
• Type- Sexual• Sexually active-Both sexes
grow to about 122 cm (4 ft.) by age 5. After this age, female growth begins to slow, presumably channeling energy towards reproduction, while males continue to grow fairly rapidly. Males and females become sexually active when approximately 2.1-2.7 meters (7-9 ft.) in length.
• Have been some cases of reproduction asexual but are vary rare
• Ovary- female reproductive organ in which ova or eggs are produced,
• Infundibulum-and oviduct tube compared with the transition zone and the uterus
• Magnum- narrow tube leading to the isthmus.
• Isthmus-.A narrow organ, passage, or piece of tissue connecting two larger parts.
• Vagina- The passage leading to the vent• Vent- the exit for all waste and eggs

Gestation of eggs
gestation• The incubation period of
alligator eggs is approximately 65 days. During this time the female alligator stays on the alert to guard.
• Also the temperature of the nest decides the sex of the offspring between 90 and 93 degrees Fahrenheit will produce males and anything below or above that will produce females.
• Also these eggs once laid are not water proof and will die if submerged for to long.

Problems?!?!• Alligators don’t have many
genetic problems they do however have people problems the American alligators in the 1940s where nearly wiped out by over hunting and today there numbers are up
• Also flooding has a major impacted during the breeding season many of the eggs could drowned if the female doesn't move the nest far up the bank .
• Last some females are killed during the act of mating which can lead to problems.
