Journey person: Is a person that has completed there apprenticeship and they are certified but they're still a rookie on the job.

Apprentice: Is someone learning their trade on the job or under the supervision and direction of a certified journey person with periods of technical training at a post-secondary institution.

Salary

●Journey person plumbers earn somewhere between $18 and $25 an hour. If they work a 40 or 45 hour workweek, the annual earnings is around $37,000 to $60,000 a year. Master plumbers, who are at the top of their trade, can earn as $40 an hour or more, which is around $80,000+ a year.

Apprentice plumbers get paid a percentage of journey person plumber's salary. In general apprentices can earn about 50% of the journey person wage in the first year of apprenticeship, and around 80% by the end of the training period.

To enter an apprenticeship program, you need some high school education.

●In some provinces the minimum requirement is grade 10, while others require a high school diploma.
