Geography • It is located in the southern part of Asia. It

borders the Arabian sea and the Bay of Bengal.

• It is a little more than 1/3rd the size of the U.S

• In the north their climate is temperate but in the south their climate is tropical.

• India is now giving state run companies a lot of power to acquire coal, oil and other mineral overseas without consulting the government as it competes with China.

“Availability of raq material is [important] not only for the growth of the manufacturing sector, but for the economy as a whole,” Soni said yesterday. “The acquisition of raq material abroad will also help in improving energy security.”

Oil and Natural Gas Corp., India’s biggest energy explorer, and Coal India Ltd., the world’s largest

producer of the fuel, are scouting the world for energy and mining assets to meet the needs of Asia’s fast growing population.

• Taj Mahal means “crown palace” and it often called the eighth wonder of the world.

• The Taj Mahal was located in the city of Agra. During the time of the medieval world Agra was

one of the most powerful cities.

• The Taj Mahal was built in 1626 and 1648 under the order of Shah Jahan (emperor of Mughal) in memory of his wife, Arjumand Buna.

• It took over twenty thousand workers to build seventeen years to build it. It cost over 32 million Rupees ($654,528,387.18) to build.

• It is 186ft. by 186ft. and 213ft. tall. The inside and outside of the mausoleum is decorated with flowers and calligraphy using precious gems such as agate and jasper.

• Outsourcing is the when a company hands over parts of it’s work to another company leaving them responsible to do the job under the requirements of the outsourcing company.

• The idea of outsourcing dates back to 1776 when Adam Smith talked about this idea in his book The Wealth of Nations.

• It all started during the industrial revolution when the U.S. started looking for a way to produce cheaper goods.

• Buddhism was started by Buddha Siddhartha Gautama. At the age of 29 he left his hometown of Lumbini in search of enlightment. After going through self-denial, discipline and meditation, he attained elightenment and set out to teach people about his path to enlightenment.

• Buddhism became popular in India between the years 270 B.C.E and 232 B.C.E. after King Asoka converted to Buddhism.

• He did not make it the state religion but he supported all ethnical religions. There book is called the Sutra. It consists of a series of questions.
