With over a century of experience in the Lebanese market and worldwide, we would like to introduce our newest gallery, Maktabi at the Park, located in the Grand Hotels District of chic Downtown Beirut. The gallery’s name was selected in reference to “Rafic Hariri Park”, a sizable public park that will be built facing our gallery and extending to the Marina.

From the latest trend in designer carpets to tribal rugs and authentic antiques, this new two-story showroom has a variety of collections that satisfy all styles and tastes, aiming to offer its clientele with a unique and exclusive selection. We specialize in furnishing private homes, assembling private rug collections and assisting architectural projects of all sizes. Interior architects as well as private clients can login directly to our extensive digital library.

Using our special software, any selected rug can be inserted to a variety of scenes, or, in fact, to your own home, once a picture is provided, to be printed or emailed.

Our team will rely on Maktabi’s associates locally and worldwide to go “rug hunting” for any given request, especially in the antique or oversize carpets categories.

Already popular with interior architects, designing and ordering is now an option accessible to private clients. Whether modern or classic, hand-woven to the needs and taste of any project, our professional team will assist in modifying any of our designs. renaissance collection

While designer rugs have so far belonged to the modern interiors, this Renaissance collection revives the antique technique of weaving. From the European cities of Vienna, Milan and Madrid, among others, these artists were inspired by famous and rare antique museum rugs such as Hadji Jallili or Mohtasham. These high quality hand-knotted masterpieces are made exclusively out of hand-spun wool, dyed with all natural plant extracts. The entire process is under tight quality control. The rugs are manufactured by the fine expert hands of Persian, Turkish and Turkmen weavers among other tribal areas.

Powerful and ethereal, mystical and tellurian, the CMI’s talented designers have once again made their mark with Aerial. The collection evokes a range of elemental purity, from percolating molten designs to explosive stardust elegance.

Hand-woven in Nepal, where centuries of traditional craftsmanship results in carpets of luxurious quality and renowned durability, Aerial is interpreted in six inspired color palettes: gold, platinum, copper, fire, ice and royal.

The new 2010 designs, inspired by the majestic Canadian landscape, tell the story of changing seasons and natural beauty.

The Lebanese market remains eager for the rarest, finest and most distinctive pieces as Beirut has become a reference to genuine antiques. Originating from Esphahan, Maktabi family owes its reputation mainly to the fine selection in quality, design, color combination and, last but not least, the finishing of each rug. Masterpieces, such as Qum silk, Esphahan, silk flowered Nain, pictorial Tabriz, among a wide variety of recent hand-knotted Persian rugs, add up to be one of the pillars of our success, since the day we opened our first shop in the free zone of the old Beirut Port. This collection also includes a range of oversized carpets.

Decorative rugs

Our decorative collection consists of a vast array of carpet designs mixed with a modern flare of colors and style. Here too, designers, most specifically Persian and Turkish, have put their effort and artistic touch, combining different materials and different weaving techniques, to create unique decorative beauties.

Some of these designers have settled in Switzerland and Germany, but the carpet production takes place in villages and tribes in Iran and Turkey. Some other designers prefer to manufacture in Afghanistan, Pakistan or India, to create better budget rugs without compromising quality standards.
