ProblemThe problem we are addressing is the fact that

most illegal immigrants don't even know they are illegal. So they should not be penalized just because they were brought as a baby.

Proposed SolutionTo fix this problem we figure we should try to

reintroduce the DREAM Act. This is where minors who were brought into the US as illegal immigrants as babies are allowed to stay without any repercussions.

Letter 1Dear Mr.President, Chris Coons, John Carney, and Tom Carper.

Well our argument is about the Deportation of Illegal Immigrants. We feel that it is very unjustified for many reasons. We find it to be unjustified because of how many illegal immigrants are deported; only 64% of them have a criminal background. It makes no sense at all how so many of illegal immigrants get deported and they don’t even know they are illegal. Just imagine growing up in the States, you graduate from high school, go to college, and get a really good job. Then all of a sudden you have to go back to some place you have no idea about, you don’t know the language, and you don’t have any family there at all. To make it worse, this happens to illegal immigrants all the time. That’s why we have to change this about the government.

Letter 2There are a lot of things that we can do to help people who are deeply affected by Deportation, but the best way to do it is to reintroduce the Dream Act or (Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors Act). As you might know the Dream Act allows illegal immigrants that have been in the States for a long time and had no idea that they were illegal, and it allows them to become legal. If this Act comes into play it can save many people’s lives from being ruined. Plus it would help them out because they would basically know all of the things about the U.S. and since they even didn’t know they were illegal. If the DREAM act comes into play once more. Then these illegal immigrants could have another chance in the U.S. But it won’t happen if people don’t put more effort into this situation then things are just going to get worse. As you can see the DREAM act is one answer to the situation at hand.

Letter 3We all this information from many websites such as….

But there are some regulations that an Illegal Immigrant must have…

Has graduated from an American high school or obtained a GED;

Has been a person of “good moral character,” as determined by the Department of Homeland Security, from the date the individual initially entered the U.S. (previous versions of the DREAM Act only required an individual to be a person of good moral character from the date of the bill’s enactment);

Submits biometric information;

Undergoes security and law-enforcement background checks;

Undergoes a medical examination; and

Registers for the Selective Service

Letter 4Now these set of regulations are what an Illegal Immigrant can’t do.

Has committed one felony or three misdemeanors;

Is likely to become a public charge;

Has engaged in voter fraud or unlawful voting;

Has committed marriage fraud;

Has abused a student visa;

Has engaged in persecution; or

Poses a public health risk.

Sincerely

Josue Toledo and Michael Coggin

Who we ContactedWe contacted:Chris CoonsBarrack ObamaJohn CarneyTom Carper

We chose these people to contact because this is a federal issue and these are Delaware's U.S. Representatives and Delaware’s U.S. Senators.

We also contacted Barrack Obama because he is the head of the Executive Branch so he can make laws.

Also because we want the Dream Act to come into play in Delaware then to spread out to the entire world.
