The Battle of Lexington and Concord

The battle of Lexington and Concord was the first battle of the Revolutionary War. This battle took place on Wednesday, April 19, 1775 at Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts.

The Battle of Lexington and Concord

The two participants in this battle were Great Britain and the US Colonies. The Commanders for Great Britain were Lieutenant-General Hugh Percy, Major John Pitcairn, and Major-General Francis Smith. The Commanders for the United States, Colonel James Barrett, Colonel John Buttrick, Dr. Joseph Warren, John Parker, and William Heath.

The Battle of Lexington and Concord

There were around 1500 troops for Great Britain, and there were around 3800 troops for the US. This was a great victory for the US, as it was the first battle of the war, with only 49 killed and 39 wounded, meanwhile the British had 73 killed, 174 wounded and 53 were captured. This was a good start for the US in the Revolutionary War.

The Shot Heard Around the World was in the battle of Lexington and Concord. The shot was fired on April 18, 1775. It is called the Shot Heard Around the World because it was the start of the Revolutionary War, and the Revolutionary War impacted the whole world, that shot basically signaled the start of democracy.

The Siege of Fort Ticonderoga

Fort Ticonderoga, which is located on Lake Champlain, became an objective for its stores of munitions and the strategic position of control that it held over the waterways to Canada.

As a result, expeditions began to be planned to capture the fort. At the request of the Connecticut Assembly, Ethan Allen and his Green Mountain Boys of Vermont (then a disputed territory of New Hampshire) set out from Hartford on April 28. In the entire battle none were killed or wounded, although one was captured from Great Britain.

The Battle of Bunker (Breeds) Hill

The Battle of Bunker Hill was fought on June, 16 1775, in Charlestown Massachusetts. This battle is one of the most important victory for the colonies, it was also one of the biggest battles. Great Britain had one commander, Sir William Howe, and the Colonies had 3 commanders, Dr. Joseph Warren, Israel Putnam, and William Prescott. The British Army had about 3000 soldiers, and the US army had about 2400. There were 226 people that were killed for the British and 828 wounded, the US had 115 killed, 305 wounded and 30 captured.

The Battle of Chelsea Creek

The Battle of Chelsea Creek was fought on May 27-28 1775, it was the second military engagement of the Boston Campaign of the American Revolutionary. The commanders for Great Britain were Samuel Graves and Thomas Graves, and the commander for the colonies was George Washington. Great Britain had a force of about 850 troops, 2 were killed and 32 were wounded. The colonies had about 900 troops, and none were killed although 4 were wounded.

The Battle of Quebec

The Battle of Quebec was an attempt on December 31, 1775, started by Richard Montgomery and Benedict Arnold to capture the city of Quebec, drive the British military from the Province of Quebec, and enlist French Canadian support for the American Revolutionary War. This was the first defeat suffered by the Continental Army.
