When did the Civil War occur?

The civil war started on April 12, 1861 at Fort Sumter and it ended on April 9, 1864 at Appomattox Courthouse.

Who was involved in the Civil War

The Confederate (south) and the Union (north).

The Confederate states are: North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Texas, Alabama, Virginia, Mississippi, Arkansas.

The Union states are: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Oregon, California, Delaware, Kentucky, Missouri, and Maryland.

Although Delaware, Kentucky, Missouri, and Maryland were Border states they were still loyal to the Union.

What alliances were formed during the Civil war?

Some alliances that were formed during the civil war were between France specifically with Louis Napoleon .

Although France wasn’t sided with either the Union or Confederate, The leader of France (Louis Napoleon) was very interested in trading with Confederate soldiers.

Also the British sided with the Confederate The Union had no allies

Who were the leaders of the Civil War

Union: Abraham Lincoln- Was born on February 12, 1809 in Kentucky but later moved to Indiana. He was the president for the Union during the Civil war. He died on April 15 1865. Just 3 days after the Civil War ended. He was assonated by a man named John Wilkes Booth.

Ulysses S. Grant- Was born on April 27, 1822 in Ohio. He died on July 23, 1885. He was best known for being a general during the Civil War and leading the Union to victory. He died of throat cancer.

Who were the leaders of the Civil war

Confederate: Robert E. Lee- Robert was born on January 19, 1809. He was one of the best generals of the south. And usually when you think of the confederate you think of Robert E. Lee. He died on October 12, 1870. His cause of death was Pneumonia.

Jefferson Davis- He was born on June 3, 1808, in Pennsylvania. He was the President of the Confederate Army. He died on December 6, 1889.

John Brown- Was born on May 9, 1800 in Connecticut but spent his childhood in Ohio. He was a slave abolitionist. He died by hanging on December 2, 1859. One of his most successful attacks was his raid on Harpers Ferry. He tried to have slaves revolt in a plantation but it failed by being stopped by Robert E. Lee.

William Techcumseh Sherman- Was born on February 8, 1820 in Lancaster Ohio. He was one of the most remembered and one of the best commanders of the north. He died on February 14, 1891. Surprisingly it was unreleased by his family how he died.

Who were the leaders of the Civil war?

Stonewall Jackson- Stonewall was born on January 21, 1824. His original name was Thomas Jonathan Jackson. Jackson earned his name during the civil war at the battle of Manassas on July 21, 1861. his troops compared him to a stonewall. He was a general during the civil war. And was the 2nd best compared to General Robert E. Lee.

What were the main events and battles of the Civil War?

Fort Sumter: April 12, 1861. This was the very first battle of the Civil War.

1st battle of Bull Run- July 21st 1861. This was the unions way of fighting back against the Fort Sumter attack.

What were the main events and battles of the Civil War?

Battle of Gettysburg: July 1–3, 1863. This was one of the bloodiest battles of the civil war. So much as 23,049 from the Union and 28,000 from the Confederate

2nd Battle of Fort Fisher: January 13-15, 1865 This was the 2nd time the union attacked Fort Fisher.

What were the main events and battles of the Civil War?

Battle of Appomattox- April 9, 1865 This was the final battle of the the Civil War. This is when General E. Lee surrendered to Ulysses S. Grant.

What were the weapons used in the Civil War?

Cannons: Cannons came in 2 types small-bore or rifle. A specific small-bore cannon that the Confederate and the Union used was the Napoleon cannon. Named after the confederate ally Louis Napoleon. The most used rifled guns used were the Ordinance and the Parrot rifle. The main small artillery weapons were the .58 caliber and the .69 caliber Harper ferry rifle. Some other small arms were the muzzle loader and the breech loader. Another well known weapon is the bayonet. The bayonet is a gun with a sword at the tip.

How did the Civil war affect Americas future

I think that it very much affected America's future. After the war Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This ensured that we as Americans could never have slaves. Although this did not stop segregation between the blacks and the whites. It would take another 85 years for segregation to be abolished. The civil war also affected how the north view the south and vice versa.

How did the Civil war end?

The civil war ended on April 9 1864. When General E. Lee signed a treaty to Ulysses S. Grant.
