From Tuesday 1st April 2014 Leighton Buzzard Library Theatre will not be able to take reservations for tickets. Any reservations that have not been confirmed and paid for by 9.30am on this date will be released back for sale. From this date all tickets must be purchased in full at point of sale, whether this is in person or on the telephone.

This is always an exciting time of year for our film programme as it is “Awards Season”. British Academy Film and Television Award nominations have just been released and 12 Years a Slave and American Hustle both have ten nominations. These two outstanding films launch our March season.

Inside Llewyn Davis, also showing in March, is nominated for Best Original Screenplay and both Blue is the Warmest Colour, winner of the Cannes Palm d’or, and Metro Manila are in the running for best Foreign Film.

Our Live Screening programme continues its partnership with the National Theatre; tickets for War Horse are selling very quickly. Don’t miss the chance to see this extraordinary show. We are also proud to announce that in May and June we will show the smash hit The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, this is sure to sell out.

With his crown under threat from enemies both foreign and domestic, Henry IV prepares for war. Having deposed the previous king, he is only too aware of the tenuousness of his position, and of the price to be paid if he falters. As his father prepares to defend his crown, Prince Hal is languishing in the taverns and brothels of London, revelling in the company of his friend, the notorious Sir John Falstaff. We are pleased to announce that the latest show ‘We Will be Free’ will finish its current tour at Leighton Buzzard Library Theatre in April.

WE WILL BE FREE!Is the true story of George and Betsy Loveless and the Dorset farm labourers that

were convicted and transported by an oppressive Government for swearing a secret oath and forming a Trade Union in 1834 to fight against a

succession of wage cuts inflicted by the local landowner.

This inspirational story of their determination, solidarity and courage is told using entertaining theatrical style, political

cartoon, puppetry, and the musical arrangements of revered folk singer and squeezebox player John Kirkpatrick. The performers are Neil Gore and Elizabeth Eves, best actress nominee Edinburgh Fringe/The Stage Awards 2013.

Barnstormers ComedyAs we laugh our way through the ups and downs that 2014 will bring, Leighton Buzzard Library Theatre is proud to continue their long standing partnership with Barnstormers comedy. As one of the leading promoters of stand-up comedy with 15 comedy clubs in theatres and arts centres across the country this monthly event is not to be missed. Now on a Saturday night, the compere introduces a trio of acts from the London circuit, usually comedy store regulars who have included Sarah Millican, Lee Nelson, Jo Caulfield and Boothby Graffoe.

Space Idol – Take me to the StarsThis family comedy tells the story of what happens when spacemen come to earth in search of the perfect singer and why international politicians will stop at nothing to gain the upper hand. Alice the Musical Meet the White Rabbit, the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts and many more in this fun filled adaption of the famous Lewis Carroll tale of Alice and her adventures with story, song and dance. The Mini Theatre version is a one act performance lasting approximately one hour performed by children age 4-10. The Children’s Theatre aged 9-13 will perform a two act production, both are fully costumed and choreographed, performed by local youngsters and suitable for all the family.

The Frog & The Princess A poignant and humorous puppetry re-telling of the traditional Frog Prince tale by the Brothers Grimm.

This exquisitely manipulated and humorous puppetry performance explores the meeting of cultures and what happens when a Princess deems a Frog unworthy of being her friend. As the Frog and the Princess undergo an emotional journey from rejection to friendship they discover that deep down they are not so very different after all.

This co-production between Rene Baker and Norwich Puppet Theatre has been especially created for 4-8 year olds and their families. Supported by Arts Council England

Elton John: The Million Dollar Piano World-renowned singer, songwriter and performer Elton John performs his critically acclaimed The Million Dollar Piano concert from The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

The Million Dollar Piano is currently being performed to standing ovations during Elton’s residency at Caesar’s Palace and includes all of Elton’s greatest hits from his career including ‘Rocket Man’, ‘Tiny Dancer’, ‘I’m Still Standing’, ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’, ‘Crocodile Rock’ and ‘Your Song’.

At the centrepiece of the performance is the show’s namesake piano, featuring more than 68 LED video screens created by Yamaha. The state-of-the-art piano is the perfect accompaniment to Elton’s greatest hits displaying imagery to complement the entertainer’s fan favourites.

Heath Band – An evening of film music and swing The town’s award-winning brass band present a spectacular concert, including a mix of great film music, featuring the likes of John Williams and John Barry, and ‘swing’ music from the likes of Woody Herman, Benny Goodman and Robbie Williams. The band’s charismatic Musical Director, Kevin Nicholls, will ensure the evening is thoroughly entertaining for everyone.
