Business planpresentation tricks & guidelines

April 2015 Almaty

prepared by: Ruslan Yegembayev, KBS ECC Entrepreneur-in-Residence Founder & CEO, mobiliuz.com

why presentation is important

• this is the MOST popular tool to deliver any idea worldwide, across different industries

• this is the best way to show your concept in 1 - 10 minutes • your presentation is always with yourself, available everywhere, anytime • you will make sales, investment, concept, project and other types of

presentations

• people normally don’t like (or have no time for) reading, they prefer listening and seeing

• the way you present is the only way you deliver key points and key messages

• preparing presentation clear up your mind, makes you FOCUSED on key ideas

• you will know your material (every concept, every detail and figure)

what should I present

• it is always about SELLING your idea or concept, no matter what you present • the one who is seeing your presentation should get FULL understanding of

your idea after presentation • therefore present KEY ideas only

• build concept in simple and logical way • one idea - one slide

• key statement • supportive data (fact, image) or key statistics

• more on presentation structure - here

some presentation tricks (1/2)

• presentations are of two types: • those which people review by themselves (without your being present) • those which support your face-to-face speech

• all below - about second type of presentation

(this presentation is of the first type, by the way)

• any idea can be presented in 5 - 20 slides • recommended number of slides - 10 - 12 • every slide should have one important message (remember “1 idea - 1 slide”?)

some presentation tricks (2/2)

• every detail (picture, background, figure, word, table) should have meaning • if no meaning / sense - get rid of it • try to keep as little words per slide as possible • make it as simple as possible: if your grandma doesn’t understand - you make

it too sophisticated

• people either read slides OR listen to you • therefore: slides SUPPORT (not substitute or duplicate) your speech

• it is easier to make people get and remember your idea with simple image,

table or statement (this is how our memory archives data in our brain) • give clear idea, cement it in memory with story, emotion or image

too much

details

unreadable

table

too much details

- pics, colours,

words, logos,

fonts

you have just few bullets - your slides…

.. and each one should reach target -

sell one idea

your statements should be concise

your presentation should not be boring

but don’t make circus out of your presentation

fact + emotions ⇒ people surely get and remember
