Abra Payroll 8.4 Highlights

• Single sign-on – User has access to one company at a time. Rules, code tables, bank

services, tax services, and optional fields are set up at individual company level.

• Levels– User has ability to define four class levels to be used for sorting,

grouping, and classifying employees. Labeled Class 1 – 4.

• Local taxes – Available through user defined set up.

• Entering time for payroll processing– Timecards are only required for employees with exceptions. Salaried

employees can be processed without timecards.

• Processing payroll– Only one payroll process is required. Payroll may be run and reviewed

as many times as necessary.

• Printing checks and other payments– Check forms are created in Crystal Report Writer and are often

customized. Checks and advices can be printed as a single batch. Checks can be re-printed individually.

• Employee lists– Allow the user to define a group of employees to be used for different

payroll processes and reporting. Employees may be in multiple selection lists.

• Setting up earnings and deductions– Earnings, deductions, benefits, accruals, advances, and expense

reimbursements are all set up on the same UI.

• Earnings– Consist of payments made to the employee, such as regular salary or

wages, bonuses, commissions, and tips.

• Deductions– Unlimited, can hide on check, accruals only, allows more versatile

calculation methods and two-tier deductions.

• Linking attendance accruals to payroll earnings– Earnings cannot create an absence.

• Assigning earnings and deductions– Can be assigned to specific employee, list of employees, class of

employees, or assigned by user defined criteria.

• Backup/Restore– Utilize SQL backup capabilities.

• W-2 processing and printing– Forms are generated and printed as part of year end process. User

can define which earnings and deductions appear in certain boxes on W-2. Can be printed at any time requested.

• Standard reports– All are written in Crystal with ability to modify to meet specific

customer needs.

• Employee data– Maintained in appropriate system. HR data is stored in HR and

payroll data is stored in Payroll. User defines data to be shared on both systems.

• Adding a new employee– Use New Hire Action to enter HR information. Payroll information is

not included but is passed to Payroll upon request.

• Updating employee information– Information is entered in Abra Actions and/or Details. Required

payroll information is passed to Payroll upon request.

• Optional fields– Permitted throughout the system and not only at employee level.

Payroll and time sheets allow optional fields.
