Business of Film – Radio Development hell- when a film or project remains in development without progressing to production. From the radio programme, I found out that a blacklist is created whenever a script isn’t created, an actor fails, or a director and musician fail. I also found out, that when a production company is on the look-out for cast, they make an image of the character and send it out to audience – they can do this by social networking and advertisements. Then based on the given image of the character, a cast is selected. Financial issues are also a key issue to casting. How much the actor will get paid is also a thing that a film company relies on. Also, development in film process is very important. ‘Under the Skin’, distributed by Film 4, made 13 years in development. Additionally, I learnt a bit about Polygram. Polygram is a German company for music and film (mainly music) which was brought out by Seagram and then brought out by Universal. It was founded in the year 1980.
