Boring conference sells outIt seems that beyond having
to attending some stultifyingconferences, you can actuallybook in for one.
Last week the ocial BoringConference was held in London,at York Hall in Bethnal Green, bestknown as a boxing venue.
Created in 2010, in response tothe cancellation of the Interesting
Conference, it is dedicated toall things mundane and perhapssurprisingly, it was a sell out.
It featured talks on humdrumtopics such as electricity pylons, yellow lines, toast, shop frontsand self-service checkouts.
With the promise of a mind-numbing day, organiserspromised the event featured, nothing interesting, worthwhileor important.

inrecruitment- its likehaving twoclients forevery pieceof workyou do, theemployer and the candidate.
Both have expectations ofeach other.
So often recruitment is seenas a one sided aair where itsonly up to the candidate toimpress their prospective futureemployer.
In a market where experiencedcandidates are in high demandand short supply, employersmust promote their business asNumber 1 so when they make a
job oer, the candidate choosesthem over other companies.
So what do candidates reallywant? The top three thingsare 1. A clearly dened jobdescription 2. Opportunities foradvancement/education 3. Acompetitive salary in line withcurrent market conditions.
When considering hiring newsta and before you begininterviewing ask yourself: Whywould someone want to workfor this company? It maymake the dierence to securing
top candidates before yourcompetitors do.Merry Christmas!
