Bicycle Tube & Tire ClinicApr 19 (TH)6:00 – 9:00 p.m., $5Managing tires and tire changes is probably the single most important repair skill. Mastering the task, or at least gaining confi dence handling tubes and tires and tire levers will go a good distance toward getting a rider out on the road, and back home again. This clinic will cover the basics of tire changes/repairs in the fi eld. By the end of the clinic you should be able to fi x a fl at here, there, anywhere. All (most) types of wheels and bikes will be addressed, including how to change the dreaded back wheel with the derailleur. Tools, tires, and bikes will be provided for practice, but people are encouraged to bring their own bike to practice their hand. The course will also address the various Goat head remedies so that fl at tires are hopefully, more or less, a thing of the past. For questions, call Kristin Wiebe at 308.672.3923. Introduction to Fly FishingMay 1 & 3 (T, TH)6:00 – 9:00 p.m., $25Fly fishing is generally thought of as a sport best enjoyed in the setting of mountain streams catching trout or salmon. While these waters are great places to fly fish, you can catch a variety of fish and have the same great fly fishing experiences in your local warm water lakes and ponds. This class helps the beginning or novice fly fisher learn the basic principles associated with fly fishing. Learn more about the equipment necessary for getting started, how to properly set up a fly rod, become familiar with the basic principles of fly casting, and understand the use of flies and common fly fishing strategies necessary for catching fish in streams, lakes, and ponds. This class is required in order to register for Principles of Fly Casting.

Principles of Fly CastingMay 9 (W)6:00 – 9:00 p.m., $20If you thought casting a fly line was too complicated for you to master, you’ll be surprised to learn that with the knowledge of a few basic principles, a little personal instruction, and some practice, anyone can become proficient enough at fly casting to enjoy the sport of fly fishing. In this class, we review the basic principles of fly casting, learn common fly casting techniques used in a variety of fly fishing situations, and devote time to personal instruction and casting practice. Participants must bring a properly set up and functional fly rod to class for personal instruction and practice. To experience

maximum learning from this class, the participant should also have completed the Introduction to Fly Fishing class. Class size is limited in order to provide individualized attention and instruction.

PickleballMay 9 (W)6:00 − 8:00 p.m., FREE!Terry Carpenter CenterPickleball is a racket sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Two, three, or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball (similar to a wiffle ball) over a net. The sport shares some features of other racket sports; the dimensions and layout of a badminton court, net and rules are similar to tennis with a few modifications. Get an excellent workout while having a great time! The game is great for both novice and experienced sports participants. Don’t miss the opportunity to experience an excellent exercise activity, meet new friends, and have fun!

Dog Obedience FundamentalsMay 10 – 24(TH)5:30 – 7:00 p.m., $45(Limit to first 10 registrations and handlers must be 12 years or older)Do you have a new dog, maybe a recent adoption from a shelter, or a young puppy?Do you need some basic instruction on behavior, such as sit, come, lay, and maybe some fun tricks to bond over? We will also go over jumping up, stealing food, potty area skills, leash skills, and focus control. Bring your dog to the first night of class as well as the treats you are currently using with your dog, if any. Also bring your dog’s mat or dog bed. Dogs must be at least 8

We’ll look at the different types and what type may work best for your application. We’ll look at some of the different tools used in building and maintaining systems as well as how to replace broken heads, how to adjust patterns and why a drip based system may be great for your gardens. Then, we will be off to the lab for some hands on practice of our new found knowledge!

With the changes in the tax law, you may be wondering how to continue to give toward your favorite causes and still know you are receiving the tax savings you count on. Will your current tax planning serve you well into next year? What about folks on fixed incomes, and mandatory IRA distributions? Our experts will present best practices, and be able to answer your questions on what’s new this year. It's designed to meet the training requirements of the federal and Nebraska state law for nursing assistants working in licensed facilities.

During class, you'll learn to choose the right tools for the job. We will take a look at the safe use of tools and some of the dangers and pitfalls of improper use of tools. Also the dangers that can be involved in using the wrong tool for the job.

Do you have a job you want to take on in your home, or even a remodel? We'll take time to learn how to repair broken tile, and whether it should be replaced or repaired. We'll also learn the importance of properly prepping the job. After all, it has been stated that 80 percent of a job is prep, and 20 percent is tiling. Find out what products work best for different jobs. Then, we will move to the lab and put to test what we have learned!

Medical Interpretation TrainingBridging the Gap for Medical Interpreters

In this 40-hour course, participants will learn:

• introduction to the health care system

• ethics, communications skills, and critical thinking

• how to be culturally appropriate

• how and when to act as an advocate for your patients

• roles of medical interpretation

• basic medical vocabulary

• professional development and other resources

*This is not a certification course but can be used as a prerequisite for certification as a medical interpreter.

Requirements: Prospective students must pass a language proficiency exam designed to measure your ability in the target language. Cost of exam is not included.

Before moving to Scottsbluff, Jamie was a business consultant for the State of Wyoming Department of Workforce Services. Forget small spaces, darkness, and spiders, standing up in front of a crowd and talking is far more terrifying for most people. Through this workshop participants will become more confident and relaxed in front of an audience, which will translate into a successful speaking event. However, mastering this fear and getting comfortable

speaking in public can be a great ego booster, not to mention a huge benefit to your career. The Public Speaking workshop will give participants some basic public speaking skills, including in-depth information on developing an engaging program and delivering their presentation with power.

CybersecurityMay 18, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., $60Every organization is responsible for ensuring cybersecurity. The ability to

protect its information systems from impairment or even theft is essential to success. Implementing effective security measures will not only offer liability protection, it will also increase efficiency and productivity. With our cybersecurity workshop, participants will discover the fundamentals of cybersecurity as well as the methods that should be implemented to make sure their computer systems are protected.

Introduction to Bushidokan“The Way of the Warrior School”Jun 29 (F), $12Bushidokan is a pioneer marial arts in the U.S. It is composed of three main components: karate, judo, and jiu-jitsu. Students will learn how the striking, kicking, and grappling techniques fl ow together to create this well-rounded versatile martial art. Did we mention there will be sword fi ghting? Duct Tape DynastyDuct tape solves everything, right? Students use duct tape to decorate jars, composition books, pencil pouches, pencils, etc. Students also create various items such as pouches, wallets, fl owers, and bracelets using only duct tape.

Just Bead itBeads, safety pins, leather, and washers! Does that sound intriguing? These are just a few of the materials you’ll explore and create with in this couse. Create bracelets, rings, and necklaces for all occasions. Embellish items such as picture frames and beads.

Build some simple machines using K’NEX building system pieces to understand the physics involved in various classes of levers. Then create your own “Chunkin’’” machine to launch projectiles, much smaller than pumpkins, in competition. We also explore with the K’NEX building system to create bridges, structures, and simple machines. By the end of the week, we will have had a competition to see who can build the lightest and strongest bridge!

Essential Oils 101Apr 5 (TH), 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., $12What are essential oils? Where do they come from? How do I know if I am getting a quality oil? Learn the answer to these questions and more! You’ll learn a brief history about essential oils and their uses. Learn how they are made and the techniques used to process oil today. Why would this be important? Products we use can either have a positive or negative effect on us. What is a therapeutic oil? My goal is to help you learn how to pick pure oils and know how to use them correctly.

Essential Oils 101 Part IIApr 12 (TH), 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., $12In this class you will learn how to use essential oils. The benefits of aromatherapy, topical use and whether they can be used internally. You’ll learn what to look for in an oil, and how to use them safely for adults, children, infants, and even on your pets.

Essential Oils Everyday UsesApr 19 (TH), 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., $15Learn how to use oils in your daily routine. Use them in beauty treatments, for your hair, skin, nails, and your teeth. Have allergies? What oils will help? How about using oils in first-aid situations? In this class you will learn answers to these questions and will be making a few products with the oils. You will learn about oils to help your metabolism and even help in weight loss. If you love going to the gym or working out, you’ll learn about oils that will benefit your daily workout routine.

Essential Oils Everyday Uses Part IIApr 26 (TH), 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., $12In this class you will learn how to clean with essential oils and the benefits of using them. Learn how to make your own cleaners and disinfectants. You’ll even learn how to make your own furniture polish with no harmful side effects to your health. Finally, you’ll learn what oils to help with gardening and the great outdoors like pest controls and repellents.

About the PresenterChristine Prawel has been using herbs for 50 years and started with Essential Oils in recent years. Her goal is to help individuals find what works for them and their family. She is a wellness advocate with DoTerra Essential Oils, and is currently studying with Heart of Herbs Herbal School to be a certified aromatherapist and herbalist.
