Sustainability

• National and regional factors govern each country’s energy mix. They differ considerably today and they will in the future

• However, Europe is more and more aware that nuclear should be the route to sustainable, competitive and reliable energy and renewables will complete the mix

• Slovakia is well placed to leverage on its nuclear tradition, know-how and capabilities and is gradually developing renewables

Projects announced and under development:

• EMO 3,4 completion (Power plant with more than 6 TWh of electricity production will be commissioned in 2012/2013)

• Uprates of existing NPPs (additional 1 TWh of electricity)

• Refurbishment of thermal power plants

• New renewable sources

• New entrants (CCGT Malženice already in operation... )

Capacity Development in SlovakiaSlovakia will become a net exporter again

As a result of the new investment announced and already under construction, the export capacity will be restored from 2013 onwards

New efficiency solutions and continuous economy restructuring will slow down growing demand

Focus on renewable energy projects

Solar energy

Construction of photovoltaic power plants has positive impact on diversifying the production portfolio since the SE will increase its installed capacity for another renewable energy sources as well as: increase of operational flexibility, also in terms of green energy tariffs zero impact on the environment utilization of previously unused spaces, or lands with low site class high reliability (20 to 25 years) low operating cost

Renewable energy projects

At the present are implemented 2 project of photovoltaic power plants:

- 950 kWp solar power plant in Mochovce – photovoltaic power will be placed nearby nuclear power plant, in cadastre of municipality Kalná nad Hronom

- 950 kWp solar power in Vojany – photovoltaic power plant will used lands in property of coal-fired power plant in Vojany

and 1 project in preparation:

- project is located on building roof of headquarter in Bratislava 45 kWp photovoltaic power plant, electricity of this power plant will be used for own consumption of building of headquarter

Preconditions to invest in RES

• Stable and predictable legislative framework

• Grid infrastructure to sustain a specific amount of RES production

• Impact on final prices to be considered (right mix of production sources)
