The AFSUG Business Analytics needs your assistance!
We realise that we need to provide services that YOU will find valuable. In order for us to achieve this, we are conducting a
survey to help us evaluate the services we provide and find areas in which we can improve.
Please note that we DO NOT want to take up too much of your time, as a result we have ensured that this survey is short
and can be completed on-line in 5-10 minutes. Please remember that your input is valuable to us! It doesn’t hurt that there is
a prize for the 1st few people to complete the survey!

We all start the year with New Year’s resolutions (sometimes we share these with others most
times we don’t!)
We’re dedicated to keeping ours, which is to ensure that the Business Analytics SIG serves and
adds value to you, our members. This can only be achieved if each member makes a contribution
(no matter how small), whether it be convincing a colleague to speak at a SIG event, completing a
survey or sending us an interesting article.
This newsletter is our first step this year towards improving communication with our members. We
hope you’ll read it and find it valuable!

New version of SAP BI Mobi for iPad and iPhone One of the drawbacks of SAP Mobile was its inability to render dashboards on a
mobile device, so you can imagine that this has been a much anticipated and
long awaited release as described by Louis de Gouveia in his blog post “Mobile
BI 4.4.12 with Dashboards Support is NOW OUT”. Some of the features of
the app are that it allows one to extend the existing Crystal Reports, Web Intelli-
gence Reports, Dashboards& and Design Studio Dashboards to iPad and iPhone.
The app allows you to also connect to data via SAP BusinessObjects BI
OnDemand. This release offers support for hyperlink objects and additional geo
enhancements.
AllAccess presents 3 New Kids on the SAP BI Block In our mailer last month, we spoke about an “AllAccess” Webinar hosted by Mico Yuk & Ryan Goodman which took place on the
14th of December. If you missed it, you can view the recording from here. There were major announcements and clarification
made by SAP Product Managers. There was no sales talk…just facts an hour of Q&A! Some highlights are mentioned in the blog
post written by Zimkhita Buwa, i.e. SAPVISI not replacing Explorer and there is a free trial version available for download.
www.sap.com/tryvisualintelligence; BI and Predictive Analytics are viewed as separate worlds…SAP envisions combining them;
SAP Design Studio is positioned as being the replacement of the Web Application Designer (WAD). Ian Mayor explicitly stated “IF
you’re on BW/HANA…go to Design Studio. If you’re using multiple sources Dashboards. Don’t rebuild…as we move
forward there will be a convergence between Dashboards and Design Studio.”

SAP announced a “game-changer or all game changers” recently – the availability of SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA

extremely blurry). A broad variety of business scenarios are available, i.e. financial close, material resource planning (MRP), etc.
Read the official press release or watch the recording of the announcement. There has been a great buzz on twitter. If you want to
track the online discussions, the official hashtag is #SAPonHANA. You can also visit the experience SAPHANA website for more info.
The 1st SIG Meeting will be held on the 20th of February in
Cape Town and 21st February Johannesburg
These events are organised for you to network, learn from other
customers or for you to share your “war stories” with the rest of
the community. We thus urge you to please attend. We will no-
tify you as soon as we have the exact dates and an agenda
bedded down.
