The MetroCard Fare Collection machine accepts Pay-Per-Ride MetroCard,Unlimited Ride MetroCard, Reduced-Fare MetroCard, electronic papertransfers, single-ride tickets, and Student MetroCard, but NOT Half-FareStudent MetroCard which requires payment in coins. MetroCardtransfers are encoded on your card.

The Coin Fare Collection machine accepts exact fare payment in coinsfor full fare, reduced fare, and the Half-Fare Student MetroCard. Dollar bills,pennies, and half-dollar coins are not accepted.

We are committed to providing you with the safestservice possible. Please take a moment to readthis list and consider what can happen if you’renot careful:

• Don’t run for the bus — that’s when most accidents happen. Slips, trips, and falls are themost common causes of injuries.

• Stand behind the white line if you are inthe front of the bus. A sudden stop could propelyou forward into the dashboard, window, or stairwell.

• Avoid standing in the stairwell of the rear door, and don’t lean on the rear door.

• Allow the bus operator to secure yourchair if you are in a wheelchair.

• Keep your head and arms inside bus windows.

• Signal the bus operator two blocks beforeyou want to get off so that there’s sufficient timeto stop.

• Hold the handrail when you exit, particularlyin wintry weather when the steps get slipperyfrom snow.

• Watch for cars as you leave the bus. Thisbecomes even more important when the busoperator is unable to pull completely into thebus stop. Make it a point to not cross in front ofthe bus after you get off.
